600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Based on 1.25" thickness shouldn't the calculation be

93.5x 45.5x23.5 ?

I see it this way. 1.25+1.25=2.5. If you take that away from the length and width you get 96-2.5=93.5 for the length and 48-2.5=46.5 for the width. The bottom piece is only .5 inches so 24-.5=23.5. So the interior dimensions are 96.5"Lx46.5"Wx23.5"H. But considering with overflow actual water height is safely 21.5-22" so that would equal approx 435 gallons. Give or take a gallon.

If that's the measurements, then it would be called 480g (478)

According to your pics the acrylic is 1.18" thick, not 1.25...
You need actual inside #s, and measure from inside bottom to lip of overflow to get actual volume

They said its because it's metric measurement.

48-2.5=45.5
So interior is 93.5x 45.5 x 21.5= 396g

It clearly shows " , as is 96" x 48"... But I believe that it is probably referred to as inch & 1/4 in the trade!

Aha! I don't know if you're aware of it, but THIS is the key.

What you've got to do now is calculate your area (LxWxH) in drachmas, then multiply by 9/5 and then subtract 32.

That's the only way to get your true tank volume in Centigrade.

What if your tank is not at sea level?

Multiply by -0.0° and be fruitfly.

Ok now you are talking above my pay grade. I was just being curious about tank volume. Please explain.
The conversion to Fahrenheit 451 is not as smooth as some on the other side of the metric divide would have us believe.

Is your side glass sitting on or in front of the bottom panel?
That would add or take out 1.25 inch height to the tank?
For basic tank measurement you just multiply the outside dimensions. If you want a more exact measurement to calculate a treatment volume the you start calculating the insides of the tank and sump, and take out glass thickness and baffles... As well as empty space on the top of the tank, sand , rocks estimated volume...

All panels are sitting on the bottom panel.

Now he's making a template for the overflows.

The overflows will be 24"Lx8"Wx12"H.

The template is finished.

Sorry everyone. Tapatalk is getting on my last nerve.

I am happy to see that all is progressing nicely with the build. It seems these guys know what they are doing and are being neat and thorough. Craftsmanship is undeniably important in our hobby.

Thank Stylo and you are right. The guy in the pics has been building tanks for over 20 years.

Puh! Finally I've been through each and
every page of this thread.

Wayne you really got my deepest respect for all the things
you've been through and how you always keep your
positive attitude.
They way how you do things is quite impressive.
I sincerely hope that I will have the patience you have
in my commit built.
When the day comes to put your tank on the stand
you can be sure I'm gonna celebrate:)

If you need more info concerning Zeovit just shoot me a
PM and I will talk to the guys from Korallenzucht and
other friends that use the method.

Keep my fingers crossed, that all goes well!

Greetings
Mathias

Well I know it took you a few months to finish reading my thread and I admire your patience.

I've been studying the ZeoVit method for the past two months and getting a lot of info from G. Alexander on the site he's on.

If all goes well Friday will be the big celebration.

It was worth every minute :)
I'm looking forward to see what you will make
out of this baby!
For Friday I already put a bottle of good white wine in
the fridge;)

Good to hear that!

Greetings
Mathias
