600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Yea my last to do for my build is choosing which route to go for calcium, it looks like I am going with Calcium reactor. Dosing will part of mix but hopefully only for top off.

The only thing I have to mentally prepare myself with is the manual dosing of the ZeoVit. As for LEDs I will be purchasing them and maybe accent with T5s.

Wayne, are you using zeovit? Or planning on it?

Corey

Yessir I am. I love the attention to detail you have to be with the dosing. But once it kicks in then its simple. The product is good for 3 months after opening(6 month shelf life) After the initial cycle with the top 4 product, then you only add what you need depend on the tank. Less reactors other than the zeovit reactors and I have been heavy in the zeovit forums researching the beautiful tanks and tanks that had problems and what they had to dose to fix.

Love the light rack Wayne! I know a few guys that have done full blown zeo tanks with amazing results and then they went in the opposite direction running their tanks with higher nutrient levels....no3 5-10ppm and po4 .03-.08 ranges and the tanks look just as amazing. They have all said that they prefer the higher nutrient method mainly because they feel they are getting the same results, the cost is less and its more forgiving. Under zeo they felt that they couldnt miss a dose and vacations became a challenge. I am anxious to see your results with zeo Wayne!

Thanks Steve. That's what I am running now with my 225. I am presently doing it with the Red Sea program. Except I'm dosing nitrates to keep phosphates down I addition to car on dosing. But the K.I.S.S. methods works well also and ZeoVit does that with only using a reactor and skimmer. Can't wait for the end of the month to come.

Wayne how do you like the Red Sea program

Corey

Well here is the gist of the program. First there is two types of salt, Red Sea Coral Salt and Red Sea Pro Coral Salt.

The Red Sea Coral Salt was designed for color. The cal, alk, and mag have levels close to sea water. The Red Sea Coral Pro salt was designed for growth. The parameters are much higher than the other salt. I used to use the pro salt but the parameters were to high for me because at the time I was using bio pellets. So I started using the regular salt.

Now comes the reef foundation program. It is used to replenish the basic trace elements and the three main ones, iron, potassium, and iodine. Since I do water changes every week, I didn't have to use them except iron. One thing I forgot to mention is it is based in calcium dosing.

So did I like it yes. But I will only use the regular salt when I start my next tank because when using ZeoVit it requires to use the salt closer to natural sea water.

interesting approach on the light rack Wayne. What material did you use for that? Is that 1/8" steel? I think you'll want the right-angle material for the length-wise members as well, or they will deflect when you apply load. If that thing collapsed in the middle after you have it all loaded up, that would be ugly.

I can't remember off hand but if there is a is a deflection in the middle I can add support on each side of the fan.

Update. Well For Me That Is

Update. Well For Me That Is

:celeb3::celeb3::celeb3: Well the stand is in its final place before the tank will be delivered. Your thoughts?

The drains will not be where they are now so that will be the next change.

Fantastic! I didn't realize you were removing the sliding glass door , I guess you could drywall the front and have a fish room...lol I can't remember if there is a door on the side, there must be as I doubt you will be crawling under the tank .

Actually my neighbor blew the idea towards me. So I thought about it and went with it. It will have an impact on visitors as soon as they walk into the house. There is a door to enter to the room the tank is. Although I was looking forward to combat role under the stand to the back of the tank. :fish1::fish1::fish1:
