600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Look at my video's.. Yeah green drywall can be painted. It has a mold resistant property to it.

Is there any problem the we should be concerned with regarding the mold resistance properties of green board? What I mean is, it must have some chemical composition that resists mold; is there any chance that chemical can be introduced into our systems? I've heard of people having problems using the wrong paint because it can leach harmful vapors into the tank long after it's dry. I like the idea of greenboard. I'm just curious what the general understanding is. I'm also thinking about mold resistant silicone. That's something we shy away from in the hobby.

Boy, you guys sure know how to get yourselves in trouble by giving incomplete descriptions or explanations! ;)

Green sheetrock has a mold inhibitor. It is intended for use in kitchens and bathrooms where there is expected to be high humidity levels on a regular basis. It does not "off-gas" this inhibitor, to answer halmus' question. Many kinds of paint will off-gas volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or worse. So do many glues and adhesives. The best paint for easy maintenance, enamel, is also the worst for giving off fumes and other nasties for several weeks after application.

That's why it is so important NOT to start finishing the house after you set up your aquarium. This stuff should all have been finished and given a chance to cure and the air in the house to have changed several times before introducing your tank. Is there a guarantee that these modern chemicals will kill your aquarium? No, of course not. They are just another POSSIBLE threat to your tank's health - and yours.

So are you saying I am to late.

Looking good Wayne, I can almost smell the salt water now.
Tub liner for the win! I love that stuff. Can't tell you how many times it saved by bacon.

Thanks Mike. I did the first mud and spackle yesterday. Will do the second layer later and sand.

Actually it's shower liner. I learned from my first tank and I used it now on my 225. So doing it on this tank was a no brainer. But the real surprise starts Tuesday hopefully fingered crossed.

What you've changed your mind on the tank again? Is this ever going to be finished or are you going for the ultimate high score in number of posts on a single thread. :)

I will never have the highest score for ETOTM. Well maybe I will but I didn't change my mind on the tank. It will happen no matter what. I have to much time invested and only I won't make this happen.

Things are coming along great. When are you expecting delivery no the tank?

Also, what did you do with the flooring where the slider tracks were?

Thanks Stylo. Delivery of the tank is schedule for 25 Oct. I drywalled the top and sides and
evened the floor to extend to the stand. Will show pics later.

Someone was breaking their tank down and was giving everything away so I jumped at the chance. I forgot to take pics of the acros but I did get some super acans.
