600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Looks clear to me in a short time.. A man with patience to double clean the sand before placing it .. Another thought when adding water I used to use a) a small pump and pump the water onto a corner as close to bottom as possible and sometimes b) I put a dish or small container and pump into that.
Question ; What size sand particles are u using I do not like the sugar fine sand? do U?

200lbs :fun5: looking good! All finished and running tomorrow?

Thanks mpsti. I might add another 20-40 pounds because I see a couple empty spots. If I am lucky later tonight the tank will be operational.

That is super clear for just putting the sand in.

Thanks. I placed a pump inside and had it filter through a 10 micron sock in addition to placing a wave maker inside for aeration.

unreal im going to stick around for this one

Glad you could come around.

Agreed, I think I'm going to have him come over and rinse my sand for me when it gets here.

Hey just pm me and coordinate a good time and I am willing to help.

I don't know because I didn't check the label. I know its not as small as sugar or oolite but not as big as other sand I have used.

Seventh trip.

Will hopefully finish this evening.

I think it's time to get some sort of light over it. The glare from the window is making the camera take darker than normal photos.

I believe you are right. I have temporary lights but just haven't gotten them yet. Plus I need to tint the large window directly behind the tank.

Wayne,

How are you filling up the tank? It sounds like you are using buckets?

I have a 275 gallon tank in the garage with a long hose. I have a 55 gallon barrel and I fill it with the water from the 275 and then pump it into the tank.

For the saltwater station I will be adding a 100 ft marine/RV hose to use to fill the tank.

looking good. can't wait to see the lights over it. heres some advice passed on to me. grab a pvc pipe and have the sand slide down the pvc to the bottom and your wont have a sandstorm.

Oh I just multiplied 9.5 x 55

And that number would be true if the container was totally full. We were adding about the most 50 gallons because I cut about an inch off the top.

Ya know, a room that colour really needs one of these on the wall.

Only if they would ice skate in the tank. I should pull out their hokey cards because in 2005 they came to the hospital while playing the Washington Capitals and they all signed their cards and gave them to the injured soldiers.

That advice was given to me. My impatience caused me to skip that advice.

that's a LOT of salt!!! Awesome news that it's wet and running. Finally!!

Yes sir it is. Will add two 200 gallon bags of salt initially and add some more to get it to 1.025.

Good choice on the sand. I went with the same type on my tank and so far I am loving it.

Thanks 1fish. I love it so far.

Second phase took place today. Once I got the tank to around 77 degrees I added 400 gallons of salt to the tank. I am going to monitor salinity after 24 hours to know rather to add anymore or take some out and add RO/DI water. I think I should be good.
