600 Gallons System - i2ik's Journal

Thanks Ed! Thats a relief!

jwccwj: For sure, i will show you how i will plumb the feeding part of my skimmer. The A250 looks really good! Delivery was free for me since my order was over 5K without the tank. For the tank only, you will have to contact them. Yup one overflow for each skimmer.

Bebo77: Thank you!

Just make sure you use the filter socks that way you are guaranteed no issues.

Been installing the 4 vortech for the break in and i have to tell that the flow is quite large but i dont have the feeling that its quite strong. One of the vortech have a stall and i unplug it since i really dont know why its stalling. The other 3 are ok. They are a bit noisy but i guess that with time, it will be better. I tried to play with it to get quiet as possible. Tank is about 7/8 full and i will wait until i received my spa-flex missing so i could start it. Have to tell myself that patience is a vertue...

How do you like the vortech's? Also i am looking to get a controller and was wondering how is your controller compared to the B2 from elos? Im looking at the B2 strongly right now.

Richard-

Stalls during the first week of use are somewhat normal. If the pump simply won't run, inspect the wet side assembly to make sure all the parts are there and that nothing is broken. Otherwise just go ahead and set it to whatever speed you want and any stalling should disappear within a week.

erics3000; Thank you very much, i will be posting some pictures of the plumbing probably tonight or tomorrow. i will work on it after work tonight.

Nirvana: I have been looking at the Elos and others controller. I chose to go with the prolifux instead of others since the price was right and the options was what i wanted. Elos have very nice products and for sure the controller is one of them, but out of range in price for me. Esthetics of the Elos is for sure the nicest one though! I love the look of the vortech. Its quite small in the tank so i dont notice it much and thats the main reason i wanted to go with that pump, no heat issue and also the battery back up which is very convenient. I dont seem to see very strong flow in the tank, hopefully, once i will put the salt in, i will be able to determinate if the flow is good enough, if not i might have to add more

Tim: I am happy to see you on my thread and thank you for your comment. The vortech is not working fine since 2 days so everything is great.

Pics are coming! I have been doing slowly the plumbing, trying to find the best way to win some space for maintenance in the back. I did 90% of the plumbing, i only need to glue it and put the spa flex to the wavy sea which i will do when i receive it. I am glad i did not go with a CL on this system as it would be a pain to figure out how to make the plumbing with easy access to everything.

The vortech are getting better, its a lot quieter! The flow seem to have variation though. Sometimes its very strong on one side and the next hour, its much stronger on the other side. Wondering if it is programmed to make it so. Someone have an idea on that?

Oh well, its time to eat, i will finish the last part and put some pictures on this thread... it was about time!

Ok i am tired of doing this so here's some pictures taken today

I connected the 2 skimmer ouput in a 2" PVC pipe.

nice pics Richard, but you can resize them to 750pixels to get a better view. great plumbing work and its clean too, sch 80 are the best. i know that took some time since i been there glueing ever piece and etc.

Hey Bart Thanks! I will resize them for the other pictures coming :) I have seen your thread and i am more than sure that you know what you are talking about when it comes to plumbing :P Your tank system is very amazing! You doing an excellent job!

plumbing is pretty much done, been testing for leak lately and found out 2 leaks up to now. Unfortunatly, i have no more PVC glue left so i will be repairing those probably tomorrow after buying some glue.

Meanwhile, i have been working on my canopy. Its pretty much done too, i only need to put the light in and finally get to test those fixture and see how it is working. Hopefully, there wont be any problem. The canopy skeleton is made of anodized aluminium. I also found a way to put my fans on without any risk for them to fall in the tank. I am pretty happy with it, since i am also able to adjust them. The light rack is able to slide the light left/right, foward or backward, lots of play in case i need space to play in the tank. :)

Very nice who made the canopy for you.Very clean. Will it be heavy to lift if you have to remove it?Will you cover it with wood after or are you going to use painted or dressed plastic or other material.Thermo plastic doesn't rot.You could also use metal for the hood painted to look nice.My wifes cousin does chroming.Uses a non toxic paint that you can paint any type of material to make it look like chrome. He also has other colours.I have seen some sample of things he has painted bumpers, helmets, paintball guns and it looks very nice and clean.Works on plastic and metal and he stuff doesn't crack. Its giving me an idea as to what I can do for my tank.
