6000 seized?

Roger,

My 6000 seems to have seized. The driver emits a continuous beep when plugged in and the prop doesn't move (it does by hand but I'm not sure of the proper resistance - I didn't try it when new). I removed the prop, brushed everything off, and soaked the whole thing in vinegar overnight but it's still hung.

There was no major build up inside and I didn't see any large debris. This was actually its first cleaning. It had been running continuously since I bought it 7 weeks ago (100% - 30% every 3-5 seconds using the 7091).

Please advise. Thank you, Jason.

OK, I repeated the cleaning procedure and did find some build up inside the impeller passages. They weren't blocked, but must have been restricted because when I reassembled, the impeller moved more freely and the pump is running again.

I'm not sure about the disassembly/reassembly though. Is the "upper internal bearing" (page 28 inset [5]) the same as the "inner rotor bearing" (page 38 inset [6])? Page 28 inset [2] shows this piece coming out on the impeller (as mine did, with orange o-ring) but pages 38-40 show removing the bearing and o-ring separately. During cleaning I pulled this bearing off of the impeller but it wouldn't snap back into place before reassembly. Looking at both pieces carefully it looked like I *might* have broken it off and that it is not separable as shown in the manual. But I slid the bearing with o-ring back into the housing, then the impeller and it seems to work.

Please let me know if this is correct. If so I'll repeat this process monthly to avoid another shutdown. Thanks, Jason.

These pieces should be seperate the magnet rotates on this piece so it has to be smooth and free moving. I will take a look at that in the manual they revised it recently and I haven't read it in it's entirety since late 2002 when they first came out.
