600gal (96x48x30)

Geez the last few pages are very saddening and frightening. I just ordered a rimless 300g, and logically, it just seems like a rimless tank would fall apart easier...

I would not worry about it at all.

There are so many factors involved with Shawns tank it is really difficult at best to point blame. You cannot look at a split seam in a picture and conclude it is the fault of the manufacturer. Being that this aquarium is in the basement and was such a pain to get into place I would do the repair myself, and take a good hard look at the stand. That is a 5000+pound tank on a 4x8 foot print, things settle and a little on one end will equate to a lot on the other.

And I still say the 2x4's wedged in there by Shawn & the movers as well as using a level that was to small for the job would have had to been a contributing factor. IMO

Thanks melev! I was actually serious in asking this because ive never had live rock before. so i appreciate you actually helping me with an answer.

No problem, Kevin. The more we pass on information to each other, the more informed everyone will be and as a result more people can enjoy beautiful tanks.

OK seriously now.
A few goof remarks were made about this picture, but really! Crisco and wax paper?!
Perspiring minds and all are still wanting to know how these 'secrets of the trade' are utilized.

If anyone knows, or is willing to divulge, I'd really like to do some more reading on how these items are used in the glass tank trade.
All kidding aside :)

What's wrong with combining a medical exam with tank building??
Ouch!
Maybe that further defines the definition of 'brown algae' :eek1:

Shawn, has anything further happend with this situation?

I got an e-mail from Will stating that he fix it as well as reinforce the eurobracing but I would have to ship it back which would mean, paying movers to get it out of the basement, then place it on a truck and pay roundtrip and once I get in back paying for it to be moved back into the basement which is not going to happen... I don't see how you can even ask someone to ship a 1k-1200lb tank back... It not like a 125gal tank that two people could move or something...

As for the current status of the tank I still have the clamp on it holding as I have no had time to deal with it since I have been working and right now I am out of state for work...

It would probably cheaper to fly Will and his helper to Columbus and have him fix it on site if that's possible.
