Still so braindead from the flu... confirmed Influenza A... get your Shots... This one lasts all of 7 days... Between 7 days shut-in and all the meds, I feel like I have only 2 marbles rolling around upstairs at best...
Made another round of fish food!
This batch's food recipe: (I got a bunch more items to add to the food this round)
1/2 bad whole foods seafood medley
1/2 pouch knox original gelatine
2 tsp BRS spirulina powder
3 tsp BRS copepod powder
3 tsp BRS freeze-dried rotifers
1 Tbsp BRS freeze-dried calanus
2 Tbsp BRS freeze-dried mysis shrimp
6 squirts Brightwell Angelixir food soak
4 squirts Brightwell garlic power
4 sheets of BRS Nori
No-one appreciated that I made it in the kitchen. Despite everyone being stuffed-up from the flu, the garlic and calanus smells managed to get through and earn me a lot of 'praise'.
Making progress on the 30 breeder stand...
And my prize WWC coral that had browned out is starting to get its color back!

Stand sits well and I managed to get the overflow cut!
Its been awhile since I messed with the cnc so felt I needed a refresher project to refamiliarize myself with it before I started making Holiday gifts... Latitude & longitude signs for people's houses...

Glad I checked my phosphate yesterday. I put GFO in my DIY reactor instead of the Seachem stuff last week... It was enough to bring my phosphate from 0.5 to 0.03. I guess I'll only run it an hour a day or so. I dont want to bottom out.
I put in one of those TopFin Nitrate absorbing filter pads so we'll see if I can bring down the borderline 100 Nitrate (I was being kind to myself last test).
I've had about the same amount of GFO in my sump in a bag on and off; it never did this to the water though...

Speaking of failure... I guess my PO4 purge wasn't great for some of my sps... I think 7 frags have gone white...
Guess the PO4 dip was just too much for some.
I didn't think what I did would change the levels so much... Ive had a bag in the sump for ages and havent seen anything... put it in a reactor and the GFO goes berserk...

Super excited! Trying to get more sales in the pipe... Small burn-rate but just the same it'd be nice to start recouping some of the startup costs so I can move-onto cooler stuff...
I just bought a K7mini and it came the other day so I can develop better fitting shades.
Bed adhesion is becoming an issue as the winter ambient temps get colder so I'm finding the need for enclosures / actively heating my printer area.

I may need to get some thin plexi and hinges. The 400x400 printer comes out over the edge of the desk by a little so ill need to get creative with him...
But yes. super easy to DIY one. If I don't plexiglass the whole area ($$), I'll do something with extruded aluminum C or U channel from the hardware store with printed fittings for closer enclosures; enough for the bed heater to heat.
I havent ran into electrical issues from the heat yet.

So in-between everything that's going on I've been working on my frag tank piecemeal. When I have '5minutes till lunchtime' or 'ten minutes till we leave kids'. Its amazing how many of these increments of time, just short enough to get nothing done; just long enough to get a lot done... Just need to find the right tasks...
Anyway; here's what I've also been doing the past few weeks:

Got back and all is as well as I expected with the tank.
before I left, after the great dying, I pulled the plug on my skimmer cup so it just drained back to the tank and I took out all my GFO.
GHA is nuts but at least no more corals have died. some look pretty rough.
I'll be dosing ChemiClean tomorrow for the Cyano and scrubbing all the GHA.
Will replace my carbon and add a small amount of GFO to start the long Nitrate and Phosphate lowering... (slower this time)
I think Timmy is transitioning.

The before and after photos of my algae-scrub session are nuts... It was no short order but after neglecting my family for longer then I should have I feel accomplished.
My Phyto had all gotten contaminated so I sterilized everything and restarted a batch.
Dealt with my reactors too... changed the carbon, removed a ton of the GFO and restarted... Flushed it into a bucket before connecting it to the sump even...
I'll be turning it off in a bit when I dose ChemiClean tonight.
The filter sock holder hooked me up...
I wish I spent the extra few bucks on better wood for the stand... this pine wasn't very accurate dimensionally so I have a big filling & sanding step...
Started seeing my DI resin being used now so at least the issue with TDS != 0 is solved.

Did the 20% water change after 48hrs of ChemiClean last night. Cleaned the sump a little and got rid of my old filter floss. smells a lot better... 30 gallons of water didnt change any levels significantly. GFO'd my PO4 to .25 again and will leave there for a bit before lowering.

The sweet Kenya tree I got from WWC that Timmy doesn't eat just bud! I found the small one inmy MP40. The larger one just popped off the tree when I messed with it a little.

Looks like I'll be getting a third bud! (the big fat arm up front will eventually float free.)

He vacated his disk and left this behind:
it was in a bad spot so I put it on another throne... and it moved again:

have been keeping everything pretty stable except PO4...
