im not sure if you have read the complete thread...

there wasnt an issue, there were many issues surrounding this set-up. the construction of the stand, the materials used (particle board), the method of moving into the basement especially with Euro bracing. Drilling of the aquarium by himself thus voiding warantee, etc.

btw. most of this was addressed PRIOR to him ordering the aquarium

that very well may be, however, he addressed all of these things after the tank broke, and across the board everyone agreed, none of these factors were the reason. The stand, however constructed, was still strong, and completely square and level. the moving was done by professionals and didn't cause the issue,(otherwise it would have split much sooner). The eurobracing was the only thing, but there are tons of tanks out there with the same type of bracing. Not my first choice in bracing, but who am I to say this is what was at fault.

classic jnarowe comment. the classic RC fluffer

doesnt really know jack about anything reef (back 2 yrs ago at least. I assume you have learned something since then) but makes a bazillion posts about how great everything looks _until_ the tank busts open and spills all over the floor.

you got me there. I definitely don't know much about reef keeping!

Darn it... I was drinking a coke when I got to this quote.. you owe me a keyboard!

what a joke. This is rediculous. A couple of guys want to make themselves feel better by putting others down. All I can say is Karms can be a bad thing. Maybe you should make sure you have the "perfect" setup before pointing fingers

Sorry...sometimes my cynical nature can get the better of me. :D

You were entirely correct. I ignored the initial post but after it turned into a troll session, I jumped in. IMO, you have nothing to appologize for. :)

Dude... did you miss the part where the mod asked you to participate in a helpful manner?

Or is getting banned the goal of this series of rants?

It is really a shame, that I am urged by this of topic dribble to unsubscribe ot this thread. I am really intererested in how asnatlas resolves that troublesome issue.

We are all, the new and the vastly experienced, dealing with glass and silicone or acrylic and solvent welds, and as with any structural box when put under great stress, this kind of problem could happen to any of us as even with great care, ... detritus happens.

I am here on RC to see beautiful reefs, offer what I hope is a helpful thought every now and again, and learn how to avoid the many pit falls in reef keeping to the best of my abilility. Listening to someone rant becaused they are ****ed off about a path another reefer has chosen just turns me off personally.

I guess some people will always think "it is my way or the highway"

I know that if I ever get to a point where I think I know everything there is to know, that is when I will shut it down. otherwise, my arrogance will cause me to miss something or make a huge mistake.

So, back on topic......

Has this tank been moved to the new house, and has it been rebuilt? how did you go about the rebuild?

so no one is disturbed with the fact that NO BODY stepped in and tried to stop the madness? nobody here at RC, no one surrounding Asnatlas at his homes reefer club, not the vendors.

the vendor should have never built and designed the tank the way it was if he knew it was going to be put on its side and slid down a flight of stairs and moved into possition the way it was. He should have asked where it was going (if he didnt) and he should have designed the tank to fit properly into the area it was going into.

all the RC members that encouraged the situation with commments like " just provide a case of beer and we'll get that puppy moved in for you" and " everything looks great, I cant wait to see it done!"

I am quite disturbed by this set up and the way it progressed and the way it was encouraged here by RC members.
