6045 Stopped Turning

My Tunze 6045 has been acting up lately. In the past the impeller wouldn't start turning. I would mess around with it for awhile and eventually it would start working again. Today it stopped again and I can't get it going. Any suggestions?

When is the last time you clean it? Take it apart, thoroughly inspect the pump and propeller, give it good vinegar bath to see if its going to work...

if that doesnt work you can call tunze and ck if it was an early model they had some problems and will be warrentied

The most likely culprits are:

1) If it is over 16 months old by production date, it may have the stainless steel shaft which could break, we now use a titanium alloy, send the pump in, it will be replaced under warranty.

2) If it is a newer pump, the drive unit may be cemented to the shaft by calcium, or fine sand or debris. Gently pull out the drive unit with a twisting motion and clean the shaft with vinegar and a small brush and clean the hole in the drive unit with a pipe cleaner or small brush.
