6055 clicking on startup

I just received my 7096 to drive my existing 6055s, and when I attempted a wave simluation, I noticed that one of the 6055s clicks pretty loudly when it starts up - I clean both pumps every two weeks but I took the offending pump out and make sure it was clean.

Runs silent, but really clicks on startup -- anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks!

Terry

Yes, if the pumps are more than a year old a new shock absorbing disk would solve this- 6055.740. You must remove the older 6025.740 disk first, the disk is at the base of the shaft and requires a pick or small needlenose to extract it and lift it off the shaft. If the pump is more than 2 years old the propeller should be changed as well, part 6055.700, the oldest ones had more free play and would also make a slapping noise on start up.

Does it matter which way the 740 is installed? One side has a small black disk sticking up from the larger blue disk. I did install the new props, but that made no difference, hopefully the new bushings will help.

Thanks,

Terry

It is very important the black disk faces up and is in contact with the drive unit. The blue rubber is down and touching the bottom of the pump.
