6055 X2 and 7095

I would like to achieve the "Wave Effect." Is it possiable with two 6055's and the 7095 multi controller?

My tank is the Oceanic Tech 120 48" Long...

Where would I place them? I am guessing one on either side??

I would really like to get a strong wave motion back and fourth.

Thanks in advance.

I think your best bet for a wave would be the wave box. Even if the timing could get set quick enough I dont think the 6055s could kick up a wave.

7095 is great for making random flow etc... But there is two limiting factors in what I think you are asking to do IMO. First being I dont think the 6055s are strong enough to accomplish a wave in the tank. Second being the interval goes down to 1 sec on the 7095 which I dont think is fast enough to create the wave in a 4 foot tank even with enough flow.

I want to make sure though are you trying to accomplish a surface wave back in forth in the tank or just back and forth flow in the water column? Even for the second task in a 120 I would suggest waiting for the 6105 pumps as I would say they would be a much better fit for the size tank

Shawn, thanks for the replies. I would like the back and fourth wave in the actual display tank...Ill do some research on the 6105's

the problem with the multicontroller or the single controller is that it doesn't switch fast enough and it doesn't shut the pumps on and off. for a wave effect you need the pumps to down as low in power as possible (0% preferably) and kick back up to full power at fast intervals. you can accomplish a wave effect with the streams if you use the 6091? controller (controller that controls the wavebox), but I don't know if 6055s are strong enough to generate waves in the 120.

On the 7095 multicontroller it will shut the pumps off in interval 1 in times down to one second alternating between channel 1 and channel 2. The 7091 single controller cannot shut a pump down to 0.

my tank is 59" long, and I have a 6055 and the new 6105 + controller. Based on my experience I don't think you can achieve a wave with these alone, which is why I also have the WaveBox. The combination of all of the above creates a nice large wave movement raising detritus, and strong alternating currents to push detritus to the overflow.

I think there is only one size WaveBox. For larger tanks you can combine more than one Wavebox, bur for your 120G you will see that one WaveBox is more than Ok.
