6065/6085 impeller swap

I was looking at the 6065 and 6085 online and I noticed they have the same dimensions.

Are these two pumps identical other than the impellers?

The reason I am asking is if I get one or the other and it turns out to be too much or too little flow I'd like the option of swapping the impeller rather than buying a whole new pump.

there is more to the difference actually. The motor is different in each even though they are all the same size, similar to the old models all using a motor block mold of the same proportions. On the older 6060/6080 they used the same drive unit with a different propeller which if you had a 6080 you could put the 6060 prop on it with no harm. But I dont think they come apart like the used to and not sure how each would react to a change up or down. Roger would know on Monday

All the stream 2 have the same body size except the nozzle. The only different is the electronic inside the pump. I have done all type of crazy mod to the stream but i have not try swapping out the propeller. Something to look forward to

The diameters are the same, on the Stream 2s rather than cut the props on a lathe for the different sizes we plane off the thickness of the blades so while the 6065 and 6085 have the same blade length, the 6065 blade is much narrower. We found they use less power and create more flow this way.

So other than the different thickness blades are the 6065 and 6085 identical?

No, the motor is different in the wattage, the 6065 is a weaker motor with a 15W coil and the 6085 has a coil that can take up to 25W. It is the same way on the 9005 and 9010 skimmer pumps or the older 6060 and 6080, the wire used to wind the coils is thicker in the stronger pumps.

Thanks, one last question, I have a 120g mixed reef sps LPS a few softies and anemones. I have a Mag 12 return plus on 6045 nanostream. I'm not sure whether to add a 6065, a 6085 or go for a 6125. Any advice?

I would get a 6105 as you can adjust it but if I had to choose from the non controllable pumps I would get the 6065.

I just hooked up a 6065 in a 4' tank at the store and would agree it to be the best choice for a non controllable pump
