60G Cube Dream Tank!

Looking great. One suggestion. I would lose the ball valve and install a check valve in the return piping/tubing. Well, you should really use PVC plumbing. It will look nicer and work better. A union check valve will make it easy to take apart for cleaning/maintenance.

check valves are worthless and get stuck this tank drains less than 2 gallons back into the sump without any siphon breaks drilled in the return and he has a siphon break drilled so I wouldnt waste the cash on it. I am about to return my $8 one I bought as I have found them to be worthless getting clogged and not closing all the way or not at all....

+1 to the unions though

Looking good.. Have you tried to shut off the return and see where your water level will be in the sump? Its looks pretty full from what I can see.

It is alive and well, just hiding on the back of my rock work. Realized I haven't posted a picture here yet...

Alright... So Saturday, and a credit card at MCF and I come home with this!

As far as the microbubble question, think it is a water clarity problem, will post back with my results, it is getting better... I have used a bunch of epoxy recently, and that might be a LOT of my problems...

Anyways, all is healthy!

i like your Japanese Green Bubble Tipped Anemone, where did you get it? thanks

Cheap check valves are worthless. Good ones never get stuck. In fact there is no loss in water pressure. It is always open until it is needed, unlike cheap ones that use a metal spring. Also, it certainly does not look like it would only drain two gallons. It is a cheap insurance policy. Check Aquacave, it is 17 bucks.

Sonic can you shoot us to a link for a good one I just know the ones at home depot and lowes are cheap crap. I would use one if it was quality. but I drain less than 2 gal's back to my sump with the same tank/stand setup. Tom stop the return pump what would your guess be? My water level in a 10g tank raises 2 inches upon shutting down the pump.

I'll get to this at some point.. I did get a water line on my sump in the beginning, but have tweaked some things in plumbing since then so don't have an accurate water line.

This is the Check Valve that was mentioned above..

If you have a check valve and kill your return pump once daily it will be nearly maintenance free forever. It needs that instance of back pressure (activation) daily to keep it crud free. Easy to do with a good timer/controller.

Alright, so just wanted to share some new updated pictures of the GBTA in the new spot that it found for itself..... On the back of my rock work (doh!)... He has actually been trying to deflate and squeeze himself every couple of days through this tiny arch underneath him to face the front of the tank, but has failed every time... Always going back to this spot though!

He seems happy, healthy and content to stay in that spot, so I'm leaving him be... Going to feed some shrimp today or tomorrow.

very nice BTA... i like cubes... i used to have one until 3 weeks ago.. i might go back to it.
it was 24x24x16.... now i want to make one 36x36x26.. i cant wait. :)

Another little update... Picked up a beautiful multi-colored Frogspawn (Thanks customdusty) & a lobo (Thanks TheReefNinja)....

Also picked up some various SPS (Thanks again Dusty) and will figure out where they will go shortly, just wanted to show off this awesome Frogspawn... My perc is curious and cruising around the front of the tank.
