60G Cube Flow Help

I have a 60G cube (24x24x24). Its been running for 4 months. I have a mp10 on the back wall left (facing the tank) of the center overflow and Korilla 1 on the right. I am planning on replacing the Korilla with another MP10 or bigger. The tank is/will be a mixed reef. SPS up top. LPS/Zoas on the bottom. I do have sand in the tank. Pic was taken 4/12/11.

I am noticing algae building up on the rocks in places and I understand its a new tank and it will go through algae cycles. The algae is simply removed from the rocks by aiming a powerhead or using my hand to move the water near the rocks. I am just wondering if I have too many dead spots of flow.

What should I change for the flow? Pattern, MP10 placement, additional MP10/40? Ideas?

Thanks

I have a 60 gallon cube myself and have ran into some of the same things. I use right now two hydor fives one in the back on the left side of the aquarium and one in the front on right side of the aquarium. Both are about 6-10 inches below the water surface and pointed towards the surface. I have my return pump pointed down. This way makes it easy to keep SPS up in the tank and keep the LPS and softies happy without too much flow lower down. I own an MP10 but found it to spread out the flow too well for my tank.

There is hardly any flow to the front of the rock work. Last night I used my hand to stir up the water around the rocks and most of the algae came off and allot of detritus.

More flow is needed but just do not know how too achieve it right.

I really did not want power heads and power cords running to the front of the tank as the there is no canopy on the tank.

I also have a 60 cube. Because it was a temporary downsize while I set up a big tank, I had two Tunze 6105s in it, both on the back wall facing forward, and one Tunze 6055 in the bottom right corner, pointing toward the front wall. I thought this would be major overkill, but my corals have never been happier, and the fish seem ok with it. The Tunzes cross each other, and create a fairly decent chaotic flow.

I have an oceanic 2' cube as well. I have an MP20 on one side towards the front. One 750gph korallia evolution on the back to the left of the overflow blowing diagonal across the tank and a tunze 6024 blowing down across the back of the rock work.

Aquascaping and flow are much more difficult in a cube IMO.

I think that 2 mp10 would be awesome in a 60 cube. Just make sure to have them towards the top so you can have some surface break for gas exchange. You can alway add a cheapo hydor powerhead or something later if need be.
