6105 cable splits

I have 6 of these and the cable where it joins the motor block tends to split after a couple of years. I have a pile of 6105 motor blocks that I've had to replace just because of the split, nothing wrong with them otherwise. I've just had another one split and want to know if it's possible to have these repaired?

As the split is always near the motor block a splice/rejoin would be difficult and no way to get heat shrink onto the other end without dismantling it - iirc wires in the little box are packed tight and soldered - beyond my diy skills.

Just frustrating to have to keep replacing otherwise good pumps.

Thanks.

It is not possible to repair them, I have seen this happen and in most cases it should take at least 5 years for this to be an issue. The cords are PVC which is what is required for indoor power cords, PVC does become brittle in time, especially when exposed to UV light. Outdoor cords are generally EPDM rubber but this is not allowed for indoor use because ozone and other indoor contaminants cause it to degrade, it does however resist UV. My guess would be if they failed in a shorter time some strain is present on the cord and combined with hardening due to UV light, they are failing. I would try to remove any hard bends or strain on the cord.
