6105 shuts off overnight

I have a 6105 purchased in early February of this year that has been directly connected to an 18V power brick that came with it. It has been working very well until a few nights ago. Now every morning the pump propeller has stopped spinning. I can unplug it and plug it back in and it starts up right away.

I have cleaned the unit twice since it was installed and most recently yesterday to see if it was just clogged up. I clean with a mixture of vinegar and hot water.

Are there any more steps I should take to fix the problem or is it a candidate for RMA?

Thanks!

When you clean it, are you removing the prop and magnet assembly, making sure that it is free to spin and not stuck to the metal shaft?

Late reply, bad news. The metal shaft is broken. I just called the support line and left a message. I purchased on 2/2/2012. It appears to have rusted. I can attach pictures.

Will a replacement suffer from the same issue?

The shaft is grade 2 titanium and cannot rust, iron particles from phosphate removers for example can stick to it or be embedded in a film of calcium and cause a staining. The picture is not detailed enough to show if this is a very early fixed shaft model where the base of the shaft was not knurled, later ones have a knurled shaft (looks like a gear at the base) and lock in much more tightly. All the same, if the pump is not regularly cleaned and the drive unit gets stuck to the shaft and is removed with force, either pump can be destroyed and this type of damage is not a defect and not generally warranty as it is caused by neglect. Send it in and we will get it repaired, for the future, at least every 6 months the drive unit must be removed and the seperate pump and drive unit soaked in vinegar and water, in higher KH and Calcium this may be necessary as often as every 3 months.

Roger, thanks for the response. However, I have been cleaning the unit in vinegar and water regularly. The pump was purchased on February 2nd of 2012 and has been cleaned at least 3 times.

The parameters of the tank are in the normal range (KH 7.7 -8.0, Calcium 390-400). If this was negligence on my part I will be shocked.

Can you send me details of where to send the equipment to and what parts you will be expecting?

I just would need the complete pump, (shaft, drive unit, motor and propeller housing). Just include a note with return address and phone number.
