Has the 6208 shipped yet? I know it was pushed back from late September to November. I'm finding it 'out of stock' when ordering.

Thanks for the info.

Steve

Not yet, 3162, 3163, 9004 and 0250 are now shipping though supply is fairly limited. In 2-3 weeks we expect 3152 and 6208.

I am in the process of building a 40g SPS frag tank (36” L x 18” D x 16” H) setup. For flow, I was considering the new 6208 wavebox supplemented with either a nanostream or the MP10. Do you think this would be overkill for my system? Also, Do you think I’d still be able to put zoa and/or LPS frags (acans) in the tank?

I should note that this frag tank is just a temporary 1-1.5 yr setup while I save enough to do a custom 125g in-wall setup. So the hope is, any high-end equipment I end up purchasing for the frag tank, I can still use on the future 125.

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

It should be fine for a couple reasons.

1) Wave size is partly a function of tank length, a short tank, cannot make a big wave, in a 40 I think 1" will be the upper limit and you can turn that down if needed by lowering the voltage on the power supply

2) The wave flow is very gentle, it is not a blast but a wash back and forth, even the most delicate of corals fair well in such a flow.

Roger – Thanks for the quick response. Would you recommend supplementing the wavebox with a smaller nanostream (i.e. 6025 or 6045) to randomize the flow within the tank?

As a side question, do you have a better ETA on the delivery of these new units? I was just in contact with Aquarium Specialty and believe they were going to get in touch with you to verify.

I have nothing definite, but it uses the 3163 body and those are now starting to ship, that was the big hurdle, so I suspect they will be available within a few weeks.

I would always recommend combining a wavebox with traditional prop pumps for directional current. The only exception being some filter feeding tanks and anemones can do well with wave flow only.

Roger - Change of plans.... Thinking about a 30x30x24 - 93 gal cube tank. With a 30x30 footprint, do you think I should go a different route with my flow, or would a 6208 still be ok? My concern is the narrowness of the tank...? I was also considering a 36x30 but that's a custom size which I don't think is in the cards at the moment...

Thoughts or advice??

The shorter the tank, the smaller and faster the wave is. It will technically work, but 2 6095's might be a better course.
