65K supplements?

I asked this question on the lighting forum but I didn't recieve any replies. IME it seems difficult to supplement a lower kelvin bulb (such as a 10K) with a higher level one (20K or actinics). So I was wondering if it would be easier/better to supplement higher kelvin bulbs with lower kelvin one. For example I am thinking about using 400W 20k mh bulbs over 90 build and supplementing them with 10K VHO or T-5 fluorescents. The biggest drawback I can see with this is that it makes it difficult to have a dawn/dusk effect.

I don't have a direct answer for you, but since your'e not getting much response, this might help. I have 5 MH lights above my tank, and I tried to use 20KK for 3 of them, and 6.5KK for 2 of them, alternating of course. I didn't like it. The 6.5kk lights cast a yellow haze on the tank, and the look was very unnatural. I then went to 10KK instead of 6.5KK and still did not like the look. I scrapped the whole idea, and went with 14KK for all the bulbs. HTH, though I do not have actinics or flouro bulbs as in your setup.
