675 gallon glass display / 1,100 + gallon system in LA

Is your canopy going to be right on top of the tank? Or will there be a gap? My thought is, since you are already going over the lip of the tank for your return, why not run some PVC along the bracing at the top that will return the water in different areas of the tank?

+1 on good idea!

Why not move the mp40s to the back wall, toward the opposite side of the tank? The mp60s should provide enough flow on the one end.

As for the parrot, I've seen them a few times recently on Diver's Den.

Love the tank build thus far can't wait to see it running...
I hate to even say this though cause I really love how you have it, but it seems like the end where your vortexes are will be a heavy flow area and since there aren't any on the other end the flow will spread out and disípate as it moves along the tank. Wouldn't the lagoon portion of your rock scape been better suited on the end where the least flow will be?

Custom made 10 inch reactors almost ready

Aquarium Engineering, that always looks like very high quality stuff! I've never seen their units in person. Will you use their calcium reactor and skimmers as well?

There products look good (yet to see it in person) I've already got a nice skimmer from reef octopus [emoji223] with a neck cleaner.

For now I will be using the dosing method until the coral growth warrants a calcium reactor...at which point ☝️ I will judge if should use Aquarium Engineerings calcium reactor

Fantastic setup. That fishroom is worth showing off. Question, how does water from your display drain to your sump all the way to your fish room?

The pipes were placed underground before I poured the concrete and it travels approximately 75' in total!

I don't know how to do anything half assed

Official understatement of 2017. :lmao:

This tank is so over the top awesome from the crazy amount of MPs to the professional fish room to the ridiculous canopy to the fantastic aquascape. Thank you for doing what most of us can not afford nor are daring enough to undertake and posting the pictures online so we may live vicariously through you.

Hats off, this is one amazing build. Subscribed!

Wow your compliments have lit up my day, I love this hobby and have always had an affinity towards fish and underwater life.

My first fish was approximately 30 years ago with a Beta [emoji226] fish and it grew from there.

Back in 2009 I started my first reef tank and I found myself super addicted...I loved having such a complex world [emoji289] at my fingertips and the challenges of keeping a reef keeps me coming back!

I thank God that I've been given a good job and I've been working hard and been blessed to have the funds to make this tank and my vision come to life!

Thanks again for your supportive post!

I will probably put a foam protective covering but in Los Angeles the temperature will go from 40 degrees on a cold winter night to 105/110 degrees on a hot summer day.

I wasn't sure what you had for climate conditions but figured it didnt hurt to mention it just in case it was an oversight. I'd hate to see a major leak on that beast. If you do have concerns about any freak/ odd cold snaps you can add something called heat trace tape. Its basically a heated wire taped to the exposed portion of pipes and it is electrically powered. They use these on exterior sprinkler systems for example but they do have a short lifespan (maybe 5yrs) but still it adds piece of mind. In your application it looks like it would be a good canidate because you could also set it up to toggle on only when needed making it last much longer. At any rate, great build!

And does it run downhill all the way to the sump? I ask because I contemplated a remote fish room that required the drain line to go down and then back up a bit to go into the sump. But it looks like you've figured all that out with your build. I've seen a few others post with similar setups to yours and have wondered how any potential air traps are avoided?

It is a flat run that has to come up and over the sump, so there is a chance for possible air bubbles...we built in some venting outside of the fish room to try to prevent air pockets! Hopefully it works out...here is a pic of the air vents.
