I have a 6g JBJ nanocube and want to upgrade the lighting. Currently, the stock lighting is 18W PC 50/50. I want to have softies and LPS eventually, and the stock lighting doesnt seem to be adequate so far. I have been looking at [/URL] these two upgrades, as well as the JBJ viper 70w MH clamp on and Aqualight Advanced Series 150w MH clamp on. What would you guys recommend?

The 150 will definitely cook your tank. I don't think they make chillers that small. haha. The 70w MH is also most likely overkill for softies and LPS. The triple 18w looks like the way to go. Do you have room to fit two more 18w in your current light fixture? I'd hate to see you pay 220 bones for such a small setup. You could add 2 more lamps to your existing setup for a whole lot less. I'll try to find you some links if your interested in doing a little electrical.

yeah, i looked at that. that is what I was thinking. I was going to buy the parts for a 3 x 18W PC setup. I can't go any bigger on the bulbs. The 18w bulbs fit perfectly across the plexi shield.

with only 6 gal of water you don't want to do halide (very hot)since it will make your tank temp fluctuate too much ... stay with pc

Honestly I think that the metal halide will look the best, but you only want to keep LPS and softies, might as well stay with the pc's. You could get away with a metal halide, but you would need a fan for cooling, and some kind of auto top off to keep up with the evaporation. Just not worth it for you.
