7094 question on tide simulation

I am looking at using 2 stream 6000s with a 7094 controller on a 120 gal sps dominated tank.

On the tunze website the tide simulation (F) states the pumps are switched on or off alternately. Can it be set to alternate between 30-100% without the pumps shutting off? I.e. When pump one is at 100% pump two is at %30. Then they alternate.

I am concerned with these pumps being completely off for any length of time since they appear to be open in the front. Wouldn't that be an issue with fish/snails?

The alternate approach would be a single 6000 with wave simulation (B). Would this give effective back and forth motion even though it is pumping from one direction?

Thanks,
Scott

If you use wave simulation and program channel 1 to be at 30% and channel 2 to be at 100% and then a few seconds later switch to Channel 1 100% and channel 2 30% you would get the effect you want. The opening is divided by a crosshatch into 1/2" openings. Most fish will not enter the pump because it is not dark inside. Stomatid snails though do cause problems and I have had one customer report a broken drive unit caused by stomatid snails entering the pumps at night. Stomatids are the black snails with the half shells.

Thanks for the reply. If I set up the 2 pumps as you described are is the timing between the 2 synch'd? Or could they drift over time such that they may both be on 100% at some point?

Could you answer the alternate question?

The alternate approach would be a single 6000 with wave simulation (B). Would this give effective back and forth motion even though it is pumping from one direction?

Scott

In a 4ft tank their should be some back and forth motion from a 6000. Two pumps would be preferred, but both don't need to run at the same time. The timing would by synchronised.
