7096 compatibility with Win 7 & wireless

Considering a pair of 6105's and the 7096 controller. I have 2 questions.

1. Have the compatibility problems with the 7096 and windows 7 been completely resolved?
2. Can you use a wireless usb plug to communicate with the 7096 or does it require hard wire linkage to your computer?

Thanks for your help.

All compatibility issues have been resolved. We occasionally get asked to help customers change COM port settings, but that is very rare these days and seems confined to more atypical Windows 7 installations and machines. (It's not technically a Windows 7 problem. It's a problem that stems from computer manufacturers using an OEM version of the OS and then picking and choosing which Windows 7 drivers to have preinstalled for their off-the-shelf machines. But even in these cases, the drivers are still available and can be installed by the end user.)

I've been told that they've had some success at the factory using wireless USB plugs, but depending on which model used it can be either simple or difficult. We plan to incorporate Bluetooth communication into our controllers in the future, but that is still a ways down the road.

The 7096 comes with a 20 foot USB cable. It only needs to be connected when making changes to the programming. Also, if needed, the 7096 can be disconnected from the pumps and brought to a remote location for programming and returned to the aquarium afterwards.

It isn't. That's just something they've played around with out of curiosity. I'll see if I can find any more information about that for you...

Any update here - even a model of dongle they had success with?

Of course not suported, but if they could make it work.....:eek1:

The computer side I can do:sleep:

We may have a solution soon, we are working on something new for the fall that should be retrofittable.
