I have just bought a 7096 Multicontroller, however try as I might I cannot get it connected to my PC. I am running Vista 64 bit. It is set up on COM8 (although you can change it to anything it makes no difference).

When i open the application it says "No unit found" - very frustrating!

Any help much appreciated.

Simon

PS Is there a MAC version of the software?

Try opening the program twice, you could also try a shorter USB cable. The issues seems to be with Vista timing out before the signal is sent and received and customers have reported success with either of these methods. There is a mac version in the works. It is not ready yet, FWIW it works perfectly on one of our office iMac's running Vista in VMWare, I have never had any issues with the controller not being found.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

You are certainly correct with the assumption that the device times-out. I have now tried on a XP Laptop and the same thing happens every 2 or 3 seconds (you get a little bell as it connects and disconnects).

I must admit I am less than impressed with Tunze who sell an expensive device that you expect to work out of the box. As the lead is not common at all (It has the standard USB plug at each end - normally you would get a printer connector or a smaller USB connector for phone etc), I now face the prospect of having to buy another cable to get this box working.

Let me know, I am not a programmer, I am definitely not a windows guy, I gave up on Windows around 95 and haven't gone back. We included the longest possible cable with the best of intentions, that it would give you the greatest distance from a desktop possible, with hopes you could work near the tank. For some reason though it times out with certain Vista installs/machines. I have no explanation for why it works perfectly on my iMac or with the PC's at the factory.

I don't suppose there is a beta of the mac software. I would be more than happy to give it a go for you!
