Need to change fixture.. currently have older Coralife 72" 250 watt halide with pc's... ballast and pc wiring shot.

Thanks..

2 x Kessil AP700s, with some T5 retros if you must. I hung an Aruba Sun with my AP700s and looks ok.

I agonized for months on a lighting decision for my 250g upgrade. I chose the Giesemann Infiniti. I do not regret my decision. My dimensions are 72x30x27. Gl.
Three 250w halides with four 80w T5's.

Giesemann is great. Hamilton makes one that is pretty good. If you can find a used AquaMedic, they are good but are double ended which is fine.

I looked at the Hamiltons and they are a little ugly for me... I had a suggestion of 2 36" ATI's.

Wish Guissmen included ballasts... I really want to stay away from LEDs

hamilton cebu sun is probably the best performing fixture on the market. especially with that huge reflector. it's also half the price of a giesemann. yes i have owned them

Hamilton Cebu Sun kicks some butt.
Mogul bulbs, option to run magnetic M80 Ballasts... yeah it isn't the prettiest and it weighs a freakin ton with the glass installed, but that's what you give up if you want a beast of a light.

That being said, the glass really keeps the heat in but if it's going into an open room then you can run it without the glass shield, then it's actually really light. The m80 ballasts that Dave at Hamilton tech offers runs the 250 watt radiums to their designed spec so you get the most light with the best life and output that you can with any other ballast. It puts high par everywhere with that awesome reflector design. I'm running their bimini fixtures over my tank now a d it's a ton of light still. With their bulbs

Yup, that was my exact setup.
I couldn't even get the thing in my canopy with the glass installed because it had to be shoe horned in. lol

After reading all your comments, I'm really leaning towards this fixture.. perhaps the electronic ballast with the Radiums... what bulb types are folks running for the t5's ??

Thanks in advance for you answers..

Magnetic (M80) are the correct ballasts for Radiums.

For T5 I liked the Giesmann Super Actinics to get those greens and purples glowing at dusk/dawn. KZ Super Blue for extra par. Maybe a Coral+ if you like a slightly warmer spectrum.

You can also add a reefbrite strip. Should bolt right up to this fixture.
Then you have the best of all three worlds.

Thanks for all the response... I'm going to order this light on Monday... I'll go with the 250 Radiums and the magnetic blast.. on their site they have a number of t5 choises that come with the light.. any advice as to which one to try??

Thanks again,
