Well finished the stand so far... all I need is trim, doors, etc.... side panel is also finished but haven't hinged that on yet. Lot of work so far! Also have overflow and return pump hooked up (not in photo).

Going to test for water leaks with tap water.... then remove and use RO/DI for main tank water (when I order one).... and for some reason images are not working in Photobucket...

Very Nice Work

Well......... after reviewing how the stand sat in the room it just was just too overpowering... so big change of plans..... took the 75 gallon back to the store and exchanged it for a 125 gallon..... going to do an "in wall" tank downstairs.... so building a wall will begin soon... hopefully.

Well it's a go! I hired a contracting team to come to the house on wed/thursday and build, put up the walls, install electric boxes, and add lights and a door, gfi etc....... so the tank will be an in wall tank.... pics posted in a few days

Well lots was done today... ordered many supplies and in wall tank stand is near complete, should be done tomorrow. Today I ordered:

Aqua FX Barracuda 4 Stage RO (Reverse Osmosis) Filter - 100 GPD
Caribsea Arag-Alive Bahamas Oolite Substrate - 20 lbs. (8)
Caribsea Arag-Alive Fiji Pink Substrate - 10 lbs. (for fuge)
Caribsea Arag-Alive Fiji Pink Substrate - 20 lbs. (for fuge)
Hydor Koralia - 3 Water Pump (850 GPH)
Hydor Koralia - 4 Water Pump (1200 GPH) (2)
Instant Ocean Sea Salt - 160 Gallon Mix (2)
Pentair Aquatics Lifegard Little Time and Temp Thermometer
Rid-Volt Titanium Grounding Probe
Salifert Ammonia Test Kit
Salifert Nitrate Test Kit
Salifert Nitrite Test Kit
Salifert pH Test Kit
Visitherm Heater - 300 Watt (2)

Here are some pictures of what was done so far. The tank will sit behind the window frame... so the 2x4 will act as a window frame litterally.. it will be finished as well with some trim on the outside...

basically the 2x4 in the window will act as a ledge if that makes any sense... we thought it was the best way to create it with support for this reason and not place it flush with the outer wall.

Notice the cat.... sitting on a blanket over the tank, like a kitty hammock.. who said cat and fish can't co-exist

Outlet panel for fish tank room near back.
100_2448.jpg

Light switch (upper) and GFI (lower)... the outlet panel in the picture above will be based off of the GFI... so if the GFI quits so too will that outlet.... Installing a regular outlet as well so when we go away for a few days, I will switch all the plugs to a regular outlet, so it can turn back on automatically when power resumes.

I was also thinking of the coralife lunar light at 1 watt or .75 watt. does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks Raen! Make it happen, you can do it! lol

Will post more pictures in a day or so when more work is done.

looking very good so far... do you have any idea of how you are going to set up the fish room yet?

General idea is that I want to have a rubbermaid bin ontop of the stand I previously built.... and run tubing to the sump ATO from that fed by gravity... (physics won't let you down ;) ) ... on the back wall will be another rubbermaid bin for storing seawater and beneath the old stand will be the QT tank... a rough idea but should work well for space... I still have a spare 20 gallon tank in the garage I could clean and use for something. What do you think?

As for the tubing from the rubbermaid to the sump.... can I just drill a small hole and stick the tubing into the rubbermaid and silicone it, or should I use a bulkhead of some sort?

Hi Al,

Well I was planning to make 30 gallons of the 55 gallon sump for the fuge.... so technically the 20 gallon spare tank is really a spare tank.... I suppose I could use it for something later on?

I would be tempted to turn the 55g tank into a large fuge, and use the 20g tank as a sump.

Also, are you going to run an internal or external return pump?

I would ask Capn Hylinur what he does.

I just drew this up real quick, but have you thought about something along these lines? This is very similiar to what Capn runs on his system.
