75 Gallon Reef Tank Lighting Ideas

I know I could find answers by searching this forum however the search function has not worked for several days. I have a 75 gallon reef tank with about 125 lbs of live rock and would like to start growing coral. I have 260 watts in a coralife hood but one of the sockets burned out and their customer service was not the best. Should I go with halides or keep the power compacts? Any recommendations for changing the hood? Thanks to all who reply.

I had good results in my 75 with:

1 - aquaspacelight 2X150W MH
and
1 - orbit fixture, 4X65W PC

I am setting up a 75 reef, well, I have everything just not the live rock yet. I got 2x250watt PFO pendants w/icecap electric ballasts. Its the mogul bulbs, I got 2 coralvue 20,000K bulbs for them. I didn't want to be limited on what I could keep, plus I want some clams. I like the pendants better then the hoods, light weight, less heat, and I can move them up and down easily.

Hate power compacts, near scam in my opinion. I have dual 150 DE MH's in pendants and happy with them. I supplement with VHO actinics. The tank is a 90g; same dimensions as a 75g but 6" taller.

Ive got 2 250w DE MH (Aqua Medic) and 2 48" T5s. I use the T5s for the first couple of hours then the MHs come on and then when they go out the T5s come back on for a couple of hours before they go out for the night.
