Well I will be upgrading my 40b reef tank to a 75g soon so I thought I would start up a build thread. Plans for the build are standard AGA 75g black tank stank and canopy. I will be refinishing the stand and modifying the canopy to house my lighting and to hing open. Lighting plans are 2 250w MH with Icecap ballast. I have 1 DE and 1 SE reflectors, not sure if I will be using DE or SE at the moment. 2 96w PC retro kits for actinics. I will be drilling the tank for my overflow. Reusing my 20L sump, mag 5 return, Korilia power heads and SC-150 cone skimmer. Not sure If Im going to run sand or BB this time around. I will be picking up my 2nd MH tomorrow and should be getting the new tank from my friend in a few weeks. The tank will be mostly sps with some lps. Nothing to take pics of yet but there will be lots of pics once I really get started.

Im along for the ride i have 75 as well and like to see what others have done with the same size tank

I use the same sump in mine and it seems to be the only tank that will fit and give me room to work
unless i diy one
+1 i would love bigger sump

Got my 2nd 250w light today, I think I will be getting a DE reflector from hellolights as the SE one is pretty beat up but now I have 2 Iceap ballasts.

I understand
i like the fact that se bulbs have a built in uv filter were de ulbs don't
to the naked eye de seems to put out more light to me (thats y i like em)

Ok here are some pics to please everyone.

Built a bigger frag rack today for the new tank and mine old one was full. So large I had to tuck some of it under my overflow.

I'm upgrading from 34 gal Solana to 75 gal. Going to using similar skimmer (Octopus Extreme 160) but bought the ATI 6x 54 fixture for a change. Always used MH in the past, but heard you get great results for sps and not as much heat. I guess we will see. Will the 20 sump hold your water with an outage? I have a 30 gal I'm going to use.

My 20l with 8 inches of water (normal) will not over flow in a power outage , it will be 2 inches from top

Nice
what fish are you putting in your 75
My 2 Fiji clowns, yellow tang and yellow tail damsel will be going in the 75. I will be adding more fish but not sure what yet.

Yes the 20l should hold the water in the case of an outage but a test once it is all set up will confirm that.
I'm in the process of starting a 40G BR. What return box did you use? If i'm not mistaken it is a glass-holes box right?
I made my own overflow box and will be reusing it on the 75g, it should handle 700 gph. Just need a 2 inch glass hole saw to drill the 75G.
