75g sps build thread

I hope to be picking up a VHO Icecap retro kit and am trying to talk a guy down on a 2nd Reef Optics 3 pendant to mach mine.

Why don't you re-use you 40br as a sump? Like mine. It's a great size and will and add another 20g to your system. I'm still trying to figure out what stank your using? Wet dog or low tide?

I am using a 250w MH. I was using 2 150w clamp ons, the same coralifes you are looking at. 1 should be enough if you keep the sps up high and in the center. The 250 lets me put sps where ever I want. I dont like how much the price has gone up on the clamp on fixture eigher. I paid $120 for mine 3-4 years ago. Look for a used 250w set up. Heat has never been a problem for me, no chiller.

Alright awesome! And nice overflow box. I think I'm gonna with the 150W, and then add two Par38 bulbs for better color. Gosh I'm so excited. lol

Thanks for the comment, I will be changing the drain style as this one is to loud. Waiting to pick up VHO's and the Reef Optics 3 pendant. Lighting on this tank will be much better and I hope to get better color.

Slow, still waiting on the tank. My friend needs to break it down and move everything to his new tank. Then I can get going on it and either refinish the stand or build a new one, drill and paint the tank and plumb it all. More pics ans updates will come once I get the tank.

Hey exciting times upgrades. I must say your colours are a lot better, did you find out the cause. Was it nutrient defficiency or a trace element short.?

I think it was mostly the 8 tds ro water I was using. I have a di on there now so 0 tds water only. I also started dosing Lugol's.

Small update. I found out that I will be getting the tank, stand and canopy for $35! What a deal. I will be getting it in about a week and a half. I will be needing a 2inch I think it is glass whole saw to drill the tank.

Small update. Got all (I think) the live rock I need for the new tank. My younger brother gave me about 20-30lbs. Going to cook and cure it to get it all clean. Now where is that new tank....

So I got my new rock cleaned and curing. Tested the water in the rock bin and I got 10ppm No3 and 2.0 PO4! it is going to take some time to get the PO4 out of the rock.

Good luck on your build! You seem to take a lot of time trying to help others with their issues. Paying it forward will likely come back to you on this build! Now get your tank already!

Should get the tank next week, I hope:spin1: I did a rough sketch of how I want to do the plumbing. Wanted to do it on my PC but I dont seem to have a program like Paint where I can draw it out to show everyone. I will be doing my plumbing all with PVC this time. 1 1/2 drain and 3/4 return, drilled for overflow and return. But I know I will need to make some small changes once I have the tank and sump all laid out. Still trying to work out how I am going to do the transfer since I will need to silicon my current overflow onto the new tank and I want to move one of my sump baffles. Need to come up with something, I have some good sized sps on rock that need to be in water while I do all this. Also the new tank will be going in the same spot as the old tank. Once it all gets going it will be interesting.
Here is a pic of the rock I got curing until I can get the PO4 out of it. This thread needs more pics.

If you have one put a tlf phoshate reactor on the tub
it will help remove p04 with less water changes

I am floating a bag of Phose remover. My RX is on my tank. I have been dosing some MB7 to help things along and will be doing a 5g water change with my tank water weekly.
So I got word today....... ....... ...... I CAN PICK UP MY 75g!! Rippinfrags broke it down and did his tank transfer today. I will be picking it up as soon as I can, need to get a truck dont think it will fit in my Civic lol. More updates soon.
