Thank you! It's most likely common mildew. A de humidifier will help greatly, as long as the tank is sealed off reasonably well. I had a really bad issue in my laundry room where the temperature difference between the wall and air was greatest. I put in a dehumidifier and lidded all my tanks and after about 2 weeks I went from emptying the bucket 3 times a day down to once every 48 hours or so. The mildew has dried up and can now be wiped away. The walls will have to be repainted because there is some staining from where the water was condensing but otherwise all is well.
Yes 100 % get a dehumidifier. With living in CT your doors on the garage are sealed better than most and you have no air flow.
A dehumidifier will stop the moisture.
NOW... IMO (and not anything or person or company) I would take 1/8 bleach and water mixture and get rid of the mold. Water sprayer and wipe away.
The issue is the spores are still there and on the surface so spreading them is a major concern espc for anyone that is sensitive or has a immune issue.
Proper protection and containment is the best way. Evacuating the moisture is the first step of prevention.
