You have cleaners in the tank, right? If so, maybe just let them work on it. Keep the stress low for the fish. Hoping it doesn't get any worse...

I haven't seen the mimic tang in a few days so I think it is safe to say he has succumbed to his wounds. I still have no idea how he got that nasty gash in his side though

I seem to recall seeing a large angelnat the lfs with something that looked similar, looked like a nasty hole with some "guts" hanging out, store owner told me it was a type of fungal infection or something not a gash wound. Not that it helps, but yeah

So a new issue has reared it's head. I am starting to get mold on the garage walls on the outside of the curtain. The mold is above the garage doors on the wall and on the ceiling. Also noticed condensation on the garage doors. I plan to unseal some of the insulation to get better transfer of air. Anyone have experience with dealing with this and know what type of mold it could be?

It's most likely common mildew. A de humidifier will help greatly, as long as the tank is sealed off reasonably well. I had a really bad issue in my laundry room where the temperature difference between the wall and air was greatest. I put in a dehumidifier and lidded all my tanks and after about 2 weeks I went from emptying the bucket 3 times a day down to once every 48 hours or so. The mildew has dried up and can now be wiped away. The walls will have to be repainted because there is some staining from where the water was condensing but otherwise all is well.

Thank you!

Yes 100 % get a dehumidifier. With living in CT your doors on the garage are sealed better than most and you have no air flow.

A dehumidifier will stop the moisture.

NOW... IMO (and not anything or person or company) I would take 1/8 bleach and water mixture and get rid of the mold. Water sprayer and wipe away.

The issue is the spores are still there and on the surface so spreading them is a major concern espc for anyone that is sensitive or has a immune issue.

Proper protection and containment is the best way. Evacuating the moisture is the first step of prevention.

Believe it or not, bleach will not kill mold. At best, it will make it go dormant but it will not kill it. The mold will return. The bleach is great for getting rid of the stains though. You will need to treat it with a mildewcide like Jomax if you want to eradicate it. It comes in pre-mixed spray bottles ready to use or in concentrate for cleaning large items like buildings, boats, etc.

now see there's some good info there, didn't know there was a mildewcide that wasn't just a chlorine/bleach based solution. I see it's available at Home Depot too, hope it's not a regional thing.
