7mo 180g SPS Reef Progression Pics

Very nice. Don't make fun of the frags :D. When they grow in (and they will), you will wish they were still frags...well, sorta.

Question.

Question.

Just curious, what made you decide to bring the rock work down slightly?

I like the change, but I'm just curious what made you change your mind. Excellent job and be sure to keep us posted!

Wow, thank you all for the kind words. I have been out of town the last few days so I haven't been able to post any responses.

nice tank...I have a 180 aga also but the overflows are a few inches from the corner, wierd how old is the tank?

The tank is about 4-5yrs old. I picked it up from a local club member getting out of the hobby.

Thanks for posting equip specs! Did you decide to incorporate the kalk reactor because the calcium reactor wasn't keeping up, or was it a matter of PH control?

So far the kalk reactor is keeping up with the calcium demand. Actually too well right now and my alk levels have been in jeopardy. I have also been battling pH issues so I plumbed the kalk reactor to offset this.

You think your equipment room looks chaotic, but I think it's lovely I wish my hubby would do something like that for me, (sigh).

I have a wife who is less than thrilled with that part of the setup!

How is that LTA doing for you? Is it hosting the percs?

The LTA is doing awesome. I actually got it from GSMGuy because it was getting too large. Its getting really big. Fully expanded its probably 15". Unfortunately, the percs haven't taken to it. They may never which would be a shame. THere is still hope as they are still immature.

Can you tell me with your current aquascaping, about how much LR you have in your main display ? Thanks

Believe it or not, there is probably too much rock in there now. In the original shots there was somewhere in the neighborhood of 350lbs. I removed probably 75-100lbs puting me around 250lbs. I took the rest of the rock and put it in the refugium and sump.

Some are getting there now. Trying to keep in mind when I space them how large they are going to get.

Like GSM guy said, piling the rock too high to the top prevents you from utilizing that space for corals. Plus, it was starting to look like a pile of rocks in a tank. I wanted to get a more natural aesthetically pleasing look.

A little tank news. I just added about $300 in more corals so again had to rearrange. I have decided to part with a few duplicates. I'll post pics when I get a chance. Later on when I get a prop tank setup, I will keep a bank there. Til then, they're outta there.

Also, it looks like we are puting the house on the market in Feb. Thats going to be a lot of fun!!!! Just when everything has settled in. The good news is we'll be moving into a larger house. Big house= Bigger tank! :)

where did you get the corals and are there any extras for me???
i am serious about some high definition images of your tank i would take them if you want me to

I might be able so come up with a few things. I would welcome the opportunity to get a good HD photoshoot. I still haven't been able to get a decent pic. Let me know when would work for you.

Nice setup! I love the fact that you have such a huge sump and and fuge, that probably helps out a lot. I was just wondering what your schedule is for changing water and how you go about doing it?

The total system volume is 300g. I change 10% weekly. I have it pretty automated. I have a spicket with a valve off the main return pump. So I open that valve and drop the level of the sump. I then have 32g rubbermaid brute with premixed SW. There is a feed pump in there that is plumbed back to the sump. I plug it in and presto, when it runs empty WC is done. Typical water change takes about 10-15min.
