8 line flasher wrasse

what is your reasoning behind this? who did it beat up in your tank? More info would be great
mine seems mellow and laid back.

Just so we are on the same page, I am talking about the 8 line wrasse mentioned above, Pseudocheilinus octotaenia, not the 8 line flasher wrasse.

My reasoning behind this is based on 13 years, in the field, handling importation, public and private aquariums.

I have seen this fish attack other wrasses, dottybacks, and othe relongate fish, as well as sea stars, shrimp and other reef life.

Even a quick google brings up this link,
http://animal-world.com/encyclo/marine/wrasses/EightLinedWrasse.php stating,
"once they become acclimated to the home aquarium they are quite boisterous. They are fine in a community setting but will become aggressive towards shy timid species in the same aquarium, and sometimes even larger fish"

If you have ever kept a 6 line, you know they can get very aggressive, this one will get twice the size of a 6 line, with just as much or more aggresion to boot.

Nice. Makes me feel better that they are releasing them on Divers Den since my female is coming from DD.

Like Brad, I too canceled my order, since my friend that was ordering with me definitely wanted a male, and I was just kind of along for the ride :D That said, I still think $90 was a great deal for a large female.

Besides, I now have much more grandiose plans on the horizon :bounce3::bounce2:

I too cancelled peter it was a good deal, just not exactly what I was looking for. @ jeremy I though you were refering to the red sea 8 line. thanks for clearing that up!

female will turn to male especial;ly if ya have a female or two already and doesnt really take that long, ya guys better jump on them while ya can cause these quickly will stop coming in, lol on a side note i have a second female coming to make my trio

Got the 8 line from LADD today....by FAR not close to the 3 inch fish that I was promised. As a matter of fact, its probably 2/3 of the size of my current female. Even wth requesting a larger fish in the order comments I still got a tiny fish. Grrr....

I also got my male Hooded which looks awesome. Can't wait to see him in the DT.

Here she is:

I feel small fish are better too..just my exp with wrasses, them seem to live and adapt better to captiviity. I cant actully recall 1 small wrasse ive ever lost except the katherines...pooo what a beauty they are. I will soon have another pair though if I play my cards right!

I do like that she's small...I did see her eat earlier but not tonight. She is small enough she can hide in reef saver rock from BRS that is semi porous, haha

Might encourage your other to change to a male as well.

Big show wrasses don't usuallly import well. Can't tell you how many 6" Super Male Scotts Fairy Wrasses I've seen imported, only to last a couple weeks at best.
