8 line flasher wrasse

Thanks for the update. Just waiting for DD to list one! Any other good sources you can think of?
Again, thanks for sharing your experiences.

why is no one jumping on the trio? nice angulatus' on there as well. these fish are normally only available through places like Blue Harbor in japan. if i had a tank right now i would totally be all over these.

They've been fairly abundant for the past year or so through the normal channels - LA, Bluezoo, NYAquatic...

yes the eight lined flashers have been easily found through the correct distributors for a couple of years .i got a pair four years ago and at that time they were very difficult to get but now you just have to do a little looking and you can find them .

Terrible pictures from my phone but you get the idea. Pretty shy since my blue flasher keeps picking on him. At least he's eating.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to bump it up cause I stumbled upon a female 8 line yesterday. Since she is a female the LFS has been sitting on her for about 5-6 months. She's pretty shy in QT but eating NLS pellets. She's about 1.5". I'm hoping she'll turn male but it was too good of a deal to pass up, $50 :D I know there's no guarantee she'll change but anything I can do to coax a change? The DT, 90g, will have a pair of clowns, male melanurus, and a male line spot flasher. I'm working with a LFS to get a royal flasher they had hiding in a frag tank too.

She will change, just give her time. IMO, it's better when they start as a female. All the large males I've had transitioned to captivity pretty poorly but my females have been great and have always changed to beautiful males in time.

Having multiple flashers and fairy wrasses of different species helps too, as it prevents adominant male from showing constant attention to a female which will either keep her female or stress her out.

Thanks guys. She was starting to become more outgoing yesterday and saw her eating pellets from the surface and bottom of the tank. I'm really looking forward to adding her to my DT

I though I contribute to this thread heres so I bring this thread back from the deep. I had my RS Eightline Flasher for about 13 months. Here are the changes she went from a small <2 inches female to 3.5 terminal male. Beautiful wrasse. One of my favorite. Not much change in coloration for about 1 year, just growing in size then turn male quickly in about 2 weeks to full coloration. First two pictures are almost 1 year apart.
I did not get mine from LA, DD, NYA or PIA. I traded my terminal male Sailfin Fairy wrasse for this small female at a LFS here in Corpus Christi.
