9 gal setup

Here are a few pics of my 9 gal which has been setup for about three months or so. The system is skimmerless and I use a maxijet 400 for flow. Most of the livestock was purchased from local stores except for the Pipe organ coral and purple Fungia (liveaquaria.com). Special thanks to Brian from Coral reef shop and Sam from Marineflora.com. CRS was nice enough to hold a bunch of beautiful livestock for me while my tank cycled. Sam is a great guy who has some amazing zoas (unfortunately I'm out of room for any more).
Lighting for the tank is a 70w 14k fixture run for 12 hours/day. The only fish in the tank are a small yellow watchman goby and a neon goby. The Sun corals get mysis about five times/week, the dusters are target fed phyto twice/week and the fungia gets mysis twice/week. I change 2-3 gallons every 2 days or so. The last pictures are of my 150 gallon seahorse tank stand. That setup should be finished by the end of the year.
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike,

Where did you get that stand and canopy? Was it custom? I'm looking to downsize my tank and I'm looking for something exactly like that except a bit smaller.

Running an aerial gas station is hard work!! :)

Thanks everyone for the kind words. The stand is from BRI aquatic cabinets. There's more info on it if you search for "150 seahorse stand". The company was great to work with and they really brought my stand idea to life. I don't have a fish room, and I wanted all of the plumbing hidden so that's the design I came up with.
Unfortunately I'm having problems contacting them about shipping the stand. I've been waiting for quite a while for them to ship it, and I'm not happy about it. I'm not sure what the problem is since the stand is obviously complete. I'll give them another month or two before I contact paypal. Other than that they were great to work with and the stand is beautiful. It's 40" tall and cost me $2000 and $525 shipping. Hopefully I'll get it soon.

thanks for the info and again - absolutely beautiful stand.

on the front doors, could they have extended a little more out to the edges or does it become a structural issue? did you give the specs for the size doors?

expanding the doors is the ONLY thing i would want to do different. not that that's to small, just have a vision w/in my nugget and would want at least a 36" opening.

also, what's the height of the canopy?

KMP, I didn't give them a spec on the front doors, so I can't say if their size is a structural issue or not. The cabinet style is "contemporary III" if that helps (maple is standard). I believe the canopy height is 14". They will cut the fan holes on top to your size specs, but I think 4" is their standard. I have more pics if you want them of the rear of the cabinet, etc.... There are also more pics in my gallery. I would definitely get stained wood samples as the ones I was sent look significantly different from the pictures. Glad you like the stand.

Thanks for the info and pm Mike. Filing it away in the memory bank for future reference.

pv1911- I'll drive the airplane down 80E at 1145AM tomorrow. Pull up behind me and flash your lights three times. I take it $50/ gallon is not too pricey for you? :)

Well, unfortunately I'm flying a big old R/C airplane right now before I go back to flying tankers in a couple of years so I don't have personal access to the 135s now (the pics were from 10 months ago or so from a combat sortie over....um..."unfriendly territory"). There are KC-135's at the base I'm stationed at now however, and some of my good friends fly them. If you're really interested PM me and I'll get with a buddy of mine. I'm sure it would be no big deal to give a tour of the old KC. They are pretty intense about granting access to my base however, so I'll have to research that as well (could be the limiting factor). Just let me know.
Mike
