90% of Acros Bleached OVERNIGHT!!!

the one thing that is strange is that I still get a decent amount of polyp extension as if nothing ever happened, but the colors are all super washed out.. a 12" red planet colony went from dark red to light pink overnight.. purple monster is now white with purple tips monster..

i do not dose anything at all besides bRS 2 part and mag; did a 30g water change yesterday and added new carbon. :(

"Bleaching" -- a whitening of corals that occurs when algae living within coral tissues are expelled -- is an indication of stress caused by environmental triggers such as sea surface temperature fluctuations

I don't see the corals getting worse at this point; seemed to have stopped bleaching after the water change and no tissue loss. Hopefully the color will come back sooner rather than later.. :(

color will definatly come back give a little time!;)

well something certainly ****ed them off...
You said you did a water change the day before this happened?... Bad batch of salt perhaps?

If you dosed magnesium too both of these things at once could have done it...

Add an amino acid complex, follow the other advice about raising your lights or lowering your photoperiod for a brief time until you see the corals start to recolor...

Oh how picky SPS are..

^ I did a large 30 g water change after I saw my corals all bleached.. the only thing I did was use magnesium.

AND I also used the same BRS 2 part I always use, but a new batch that has been in my closet for about a year, maybe I should throw that away? :(

That is a mystery. As others posted I wouldnt blame the mag for this. I use BRS also and have never had anything like that happen.
