I had the same thing happen a few years ago when one of my pumps blew the same way(cracked case, rust and all). The SPS started to bleach and "melt" from the bottom up. The only way I was able to save anything was to frag out what I could and take them to another tank. It took 6 months before anything SPS would grow. Everything else (LPS, Shrooms, Polyps, etc...) had slower growth but lived thru it in the tank including a trio of clams. My tank at the time was 150 gallon with 3 250w MH 10,000k over them with some PC lights. All the parameters were tested using several test kits and at the LFS and nothing ever registered. Never found out what specifically it was.

Seeing as how your cousin's take is helping them it has to be something with the water. And low nutrients making the corals do badly makes me laugh. The reefs in our oceans have less than .02ppm of NO3 in the water, and yet there are monti's tabling 10'-15' in width and 5' in height there.

So I ordered some Cuprisorb supposedly it absorbs copper and all sorts of heavy metals with few issues. It even absorbs some that have precipitated out of solution. I really hope it helps. In the meantime I have moved all my troubled SPS to my cousins 125. Hopefully I will be able to keep SPS soon. Ill probably give it a few months.

looks promising interested to see how it works. Please keep us posted as to any affects you might see from it. Wonder if this stuff would be good to run every now and then just to get anything that might build up in the system over time.

I am getting a PAR meter shortly. I am waiting for December for when we are going to install a few halides just for fun. From what I have seen from Sanjay's review of these lights, I should be in plenty of shape. I have seen 3-4 tanks with these lights, at this depth having no issues. I think its almost certainly water chemistry at this point.

I love the skimmer, mainly for the self cleaning head. It keeps the skimmer functioning at peak efficiency with almost no upkeep. I would recommend the skimmer as long as you get Deltec to promise you it is one with the new version of the pumps. The old models are horrible and need to be replaced immediately as they pose a hazard for fire/shock and also have a potential to crack and leak into your tank (as shown in the picture above). If you need a great skimmer with a self cleaning head, Deltec still has the best bang for your dollar. I just wish their support in the US was more responsive.
