Great video, wish I had the experience to be of some help with your corals. Your tank is one of my favorites documented here, and I appreciate that you keep your thread updated. What equipment did you use to make the video?
what salt are you using ?
Thats Great...What brand did you use?
Okay 24 hours after running 1L of Cuprisorb in a media reactor and I am seeing polyp extension on corals that haven't had any in weeks. I guess it must have either been copper or some other heavy metal that leached into the tank from the blown pump. I am crossing my fingers and hoping that this fixes the issue.
how long do you think you will run it before putting in a test coral? (hard probably)
and are you going to continuously run it? (from now on)
glad to hear some good results from the product. (may get a bottle for myself as backup just in case)
I actually just had a seal go out on my skimmer pump and I know I had metal in my tank last year so I think I am going to order some myself. Thanks...
For low nutrient system i was led to believe 7-9 dkh is better, so maybe you want to try that level?
Benny,
Truly remarkable.
It's tough to see the issues your SPS have been having.
Really pumped for you that the new cupri stuff is helping knock it out. Are you running that in a reactor or just passively? For the next year, I would assume?
Also, I was getting alk burn in my system when it was barely under 11. I brought it down to 8.5 and things started looking quite a bit better. Nitrates were <.5ppm on a Lamotte kit at the time so I'm assuming it was a low nutrient thing.

This thread alone encouraged a long time lurker to finally log in again. Haven't posted here in like 8 years but read often. Lots of great builds but this one is certainly one of the best. Just wanted to say thanks for the pictures and videos, as well as way to really dig into the issue and resolve it pretty quickly. Deltec's customer service really sucks for not getting on this sooner.
Amazing stocking selection. Can't say enough.
Best wishes,
Dustin
Dustin,
Thanks for the kind words and for sharing your experience. I had a few questions for you with regards to handling calcium additions in a low nutrient system that has been show to be prone to "alk burn". How do you handle calcium additions while keeping your Alk so low? Kalkwasser additions spike the alk into "burn" territory and a calcium reactor outputs at around 12dkh. I am going to have to find a cost effective solution that prevents my dkh from getting too high. I am currently sitting at a dkh of about 8.0. Also with regards to your question on the cuprisorb, I placed 1L of the product in a media reactor with a low flow rate to ensure appropriate contact time, no issues so far.
Deltec has responded to my issue once I got the right customer service contact involved and has been amazing since. They are now going to replace both of my motors to the new models, free of charge and are throwing in two spare motors also free of charge! They didn't play any games and really restored the opinion I had of them and their products over the past decade.
Any advice you have would be much appreciated. Now I just need to find a local reef club and get some folks in the house to enjoy it with me! I really need to get some SPS frags in the display, I think its almost time.
