9002 skimmer up and quit?

Noticed my skimmer wasn't skimming at all.

Yanked it and felt that my pump impeller wasn't turning. Took the impeller housing off and now the impeller assembly turns when plugged in (although noisy).. putting the impeller housing back on I can get the impeller to turn again but it is very chattery.

Do I just need a new impeller and housing?

Pump is 800.04_A.

My guess is the impeller is broken, what will usually cause this is the impeller is a magnet that has a plastic core injection molded on it, This is one molded piece that has a plate on the bottom, a core through the magnet and a plate on top with the plastic shaft that the impeller presses onto, in a scenario like this the bottom piece of plastic under the magnet has torn off and the magnet spins but the plastic piece holding the impeller slips. A new 0800.042, should solve this.

I meant to post back here:

Since I'm local to Tunze's USA office I took a trip to visit Roger. He tested my 9002 pump and found it was pulling TWICE the wattage it could AND had a slight (undetectable to me or him with our hands in the water) voltage leak that his nifty testers detected. Since the pump was pretty well shot (this is an older skimmer) he gave me a great deal on a new pump. Within an hour I was back to skimming better than ever. Thank you!
