9010 and 6025 help!

I recently purchased two 6025 nanostreams (aquariumspecialty) and one 9010 skimmer (marinedepot)... sometime in June. All of the pieces finally came together for my new tank so tonight I plugged them in.

The first 6025 runs beautifully--great flow, whisper quiet. The second one unfortunately hums very loudly. To the touch, the humming pump doesn't seem to be vibrating any more than the first one. I've double checked to make sure everything's snug (shroud, clips, etc). It's driving me crazy

The 9010 rattles like a jar of marbles. I carefully removed the impeller to check on the pump. Is it normal for it to be asymmetric like this?

Thanks in advance for any advice or help on either or both issues!

The impeller is correct, if it chatters alot on start up the usual problem is the bearing bush slipped forward in shipping, push it back in. This part is a collar around the hole the impeller magnet inserts in. As for the 6025, these pumps have two disks under the prop assembly, one is nylon and then above that is a stainless steel one. They also coat the shaft with some vaseline to aid the initial starting. My suspicion is the vaseline gummed up the parts as too much was used, or, the stainless steel disk is upside down, it is cupped and the cup shouldd wrap around the bottom of the prop assembly.

Roger,

6025 - Popped out the impeller and stainless disk Everything looked fine; no excess lubricant. Reassembled the pump and magically it now runs quiet.

9010 - The bearing bush was protruding about 1/8" I pushed it back in. I get the normal chatter at start-up but the chronic problem has been solved!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSE.
