9010 water height

Im going to have a 55 gallon sump for my 120. What should the water height be in the skimmer section for a 9010?

4-10", ideally I would keep it at about 6-8", this will give you some margin of error and time to prevent the pump from running dry if you failed to top off in a timely manner.

Well ill have an auto top-off and it wouldnt run dry anyways because the skimmer isnt in the return. I wanted to keep like 12 inches in my sump. So i could just put it on a platform so its in 8 inches of water right?

Yes, or you could use the intank installation and just hang it from the side. Installed this way 11" would be submerged.
