9015 not workking

Hi roger,

Sorry another question.....
plugged in the skimmer 9015, which i also just received, yesterday and the only result was alot of noise emanating from the pump, and nothing else. the water did start rising and flowing very softly from the small hole in the back but nothing was coming out from the extension or inside the cup. Should i check the impeller?

Sorry with all the questions but nothing seems to be working quite right...except the streams...

It sounds like the venturi is not connected, open the bottom housing and check out the pump. The noise is likely because a part slipped in shipping (bush bearing)

Roger,

Really lost on this one the problem seems to be the pump itself. I took it out to see if the problem could be with the bush bearing and it was firmly in place. I then took it completely apart as mentioned in the manual to see if there was any dirt or something stuck inside but nothing. I put it back together and tried still not functioning properly. It just starts turning and getting stuck as before making that same strange sound. The funny thing is I tried it out of the water and it worked perfectly. Put it back in the water and stops. tried it ouside again and worked at full speed only to stop again if i tried to submerge it.

what could be the problem? Is there any solution. I waited two months for this stuff so i dont exactly want to return it to Munchen Germany to wait another month for a spare.

thanks.

If you recall i also posted a question on the recirculation pump. Fixed, there was a problem with the retun line.

Yup, I looked it up, you are on 60Hz. You need the smaller impeller 235.12A. Basically for 50Hz, the impeller is 20% bigger since it spins 20% slower. You need the smaller impeller, the pump is being overloaded because of the higher resistance from the large blades at high speed- that is why it works in the air and not the water.

OOpppps actually its 60 hz.....
Could that be the reason.....the streams 6100 are working correctly though

Yeah but the Streams run independent of line frequency. What you describe of the skimmer sounds like the Hz, as I described above. It would be a good idea to get the 60Hz impeller for the 1073 as well.

Roger, just for fun yesterday i gave the impeller a trim....snipped the blades down a bit ....and it started working.

I'll keep it like this till I receive the new impeller....amazws me that a small bit of plastic can be the cause of such a problem.

The motor only generates so much torque and it just can't handle the resistance. Just be sure to get the new one ASAP. It can destroy a motor very quickly if the impeller is too large or unbalanced.
