Well haven't updated in a while so here we go.
Got the tank full and cycling for about two weeks now.

I made them like the Hofer Gurgle Buster. I used 1 1/2 pipe with 3 X 1 1/2 reducers for more flow.

That full tank pic is beautiful. I like the rock formation as well, plenty of hiding places, yet good swimming space...not overcrowded.
