90reefernyc name change to 270reefernyc

270reefernyc. Great looking tank, but one suggestion. Invest in a DSLR or better camera. :) I'm getting blurry eyed just looking at the pics.

Great start and here's to your success. :)

Hey thanks Amay121! I know what you mean I think I had the settings wrong. I will try again see how they come out if not definitely going to get a better camera. Thank you, Jimmy

Here are some more pictures (with a GOOD camera)

Still practicing.

That full tank pic is beautiful. I like the rock formation as well, plenty of hiding places, yet good swimming space...not overcrowded.

Well haven't updated in a while so here we go.
Got the tank full and cycling for about two weeks now.

Here is the view from the back of the wall in the fish room:

You can see my light rack. In the center is the return from the chiller going through the wavy sea.

Her are my overflows:

I made them like the Hofer Gurgle Buster. I used 1 1/2 pipe with 3 X 1 1/2 reducers for more flow.

Can you please tell me how you made the overflow pipes, and What type of metal halide light fixtures are those?

Hey mcbaes thank you. I was actually thinking of adding more rock in the back area for more corals what do you think?

Sure no problem: The overflows were made using 1 1/2" pvc pipe one 1 1/2"male adapter on one end an 1 1/2 X 2 coupling and an 2 X 3 coupling. I dremelled out the 1 1/2 X 2 coupling to make it slide up and down the pipe itself put the 2 X 3 on top. I drilled a few 1/2" holes in the pipe put a 1 1/2" cap on top with the air line for the gurgle. Here is the site but made some modifications:

The lights are Sfiligoi 400 watts xr6. I purchased them through Aquarium obsessed.

More rock? Nah, looks good already, one of the best rock formations I've seen on RC. More corals? Yes. I suggest a gorgonian species in case you don't already have them. They come in purple, yellow, red, etc., pretty colorful and hardy. Had mine over ten yrs.

A little update:
Started the Fauna Marin Ultra lith system on 12/30/08
Added about 12 sps frags in the tank this week.
I am hoping to be posting some new pictures soon.
Thank you everyone for looking!
