92 Corner Bow Front Upgrade Build From a 29G Regular

hey windy, Just wanted to comment. I really like the shaded sides. I know it's the stupid angle pieces but it looks cool!

Thanks :-). I don't know why those angle pieces aren't clear?? If I ever get a second light, they will be lower and cut down on the shade. But I suppose it's more natural.....and cool even :-)

My dream tank 92 corner love it. One day I will have this kind of setup in my corner space. Thanks very nice setup. Following!

Thanks rqc, looking forward to seeing your tank some day!

hey windy, i had to check out your tank from the other thread. I am at a serious crossroads here on what to do with my lighting. I think I am gonna go with an ecotech radion. How bad would the spotlighting be / how dark would the corners be with 1 ecotech radion only 6.5 inches away from the waters surface? I wish I could raise the lights up higher but its all my canopy allows for (builder screwed it up so I got it for 1/2 the original price) and hanging them is out of the question, the mrs hates the look of an open tank.

I figure since u have a single AI sol blue on a 92 corner, u can give me the best possible insight on this. Oh, my other option is 2 AI SOL Blue units but i think it might be overkill....

I can't speak for the radions, only what I have. With the one AI you can see from the pics the darker corners and the spotlighting but honestly, it's not that striking and looks natural to me. On a partially cloudy day, with the sun going in and out, diving on a shallow reef looks very much like my tank. What you can't see is the shimmer and that makes it look more natural. You can get two AI Sols and lose the shaded corners and lower the lights, and if you get the 70 degree optics all around the spotlighting won't be as bad. The really bright spot is my flash, not the light. I will take a short video with my phone later and post it on my build thread if the quality is decent.

All the fish are finally in. Now time to wait for corals to grow in and some of the fish to grow up.

Added a few things from a group buy at Sea Life Inc.
2 stocky ceriths
2 Florida ceriths
1 single mouth ricordia
1 nano blue zoa colony (about 12 polyps)

Looks good!

How did the ric look from the group buy? I thought about ordering some next time so I'd be interested in knowing how they look.

How old are those clowns? They look pretty similar in size still.

Thanks!

The clowns are about 9 months old. When I first got them there was a huge difference in size. And they were very tiny. Now the female is still bigger, thicker and a tad longer but I was noticing the other day how the male almost caught up with the female.

The ric looks great. I will take a pic later when the lights come up. The ceriths are pretty neat. They look funny when they are stuck to a rock.

I never saw your question until now, sometimes RC does not notify. I got the gorg from a guy in the Binghamton area. I swapped my split RBTA for a bunch of corals. I put the RBTA up for sale or swap on the Southern tier RC and he responded. I am midway between URS and STRC.

That reminds me. I have to update my tank photos. I never posted the ric either. Tomorrow when the lights come up.

I ordered the 4 pack of 70 degree optics for my AI Sol today after seeing a great thread showing before and after 70 swap out on the AI. I had been toying with the idea of getting them and that thread and the photo clinched it for me.

New pics!!! I struggle to take good pics. Anything towards the back is hard to focus.

The teal pocillopora is by far my favorite SPS.

My tang doesn't like the camera!

Yup and it's 14 inches above the water line too. When the 70 degree pucks arrive I think it will look better and I may lower the light a tad. That's at 68% intensity all bulbs too.

Exchanged the 4, 45 degree center pucks with the 4, 70's today. What a difference! I am very pleased. The front to back and side to side spread is much better. The one module really lights up the tank well. No spotlighting. Look at the comparison especially the front of the newish white rock front left. It's not shown well in photos, in real life the difference is quite striking:

Got me a new coral, a few yellow polyps. I had to swap what was left of my blue pocillopora because the lemon goby was snacking on it. Rather then trying and failing at catching the goby I chose to get rid of the pocis. The goby isn't touching the teal poci thankfully as I really love that coral.

He goes after this one and I will be going fishing with a hook!
