9410.040 min. H2O level

I just purchased a 9410.040 hydrofoamer pump to replace a Sedra3500 on my EuroReef skimmer. It has only been running for a few hours and I'm impressed. My question is "How much of the pump can be above the water line without fear of overheating and damage?" I ask because even with the airflow highly restricted I have to have the skimmer positioned so that a fair amount of the pump is above the waterline. Please see the photos below.

Thanks! I would have at least 1/2 of the pump submerged. It probably needs 1 more inch of water judging from the pictures.

great skimmer and now with a great pump!
