A ~19,000 Gallon Aquarium

Nahham,

Did you ever get an opportunity to check out the color change LEDs I suggested a while back? They would give you the ability to change the ambience of the surroundings according to the events of the evening at your paradise by the sea. Imagine dinner with a warm gold glow and then a nice electric blue fading to Royal purple as the night goes on......

NICE build by the way.

I did. If I'm not mistaken they are called iColor Cove MX Powercore and are made by Philips. I am not planning to install anything like this now though. Maybe second, third, or fourth stage :D

Love the pictures! Those gorgonians are so vivid. You are very fortunate to have great diving so close. I hope to make it over to that part of the world some day.

It is not as pretty as diving in tropical places like the Maldives, but I really enjoy it. You should let me know if you ever make it to this side, we can go diving together :).

Been a few days whats going on

I was a bit busy and don't have much updates yet. The seating area's work is nearly done. I have a storage room and everything :D. Will post some pictures soon.

Great Pics Nahham.
I miss Khorfakan... Where did you dive there? Somewhere close to Snoopy island?
Will be in UAE next week but will have a very tight schedule to be able to go there for a dive...

Will post some pictures soon.

No disrespect intended, but I don't think you understand, if you post pictures every single day, and the pictures are virtually the same, we will all appreciate and savor every shot :)

PLEASE post more videos as well as pix. I can't get enough of this project.

Thanks,
swimmer

I don't know if this has been previously mentioned as I've just skimmed through a lot of the posts, but have you considered adding a bunch of tangs (20-30) to take care of the algae growing in the tank. This worked for the curator at Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead, NY.

WOW.. I missed a lot of posts. I was busy with studies and getting more advanced scuba diving licenses that I missed some of the posts. My apologies..

how cAN YOU AFFORD THIS JUST GOT DONE ALMOST READING ALL OF IT any more pics after live rock was in?

I can't afford it, but it always starts like this doesn't it: you plan on spending a certain amount and end up spending 10x more. The scale is a bit bigger in this project though.. :)

I'm having some trouble securing some base rock. I'm hoping it will happen this week or early next week though.

I went diving today as well. We dive with natives of Khor Fakkan so as well as the known places, they know some not very known ones that are awesome. You could try and make it, we also go diving in Ajman/Sharjah, not as good as Khor Fakkan, but it could easier to do..

How Much did this whole project cost $$$$$

I stopped counting after .. OK I won't say .. :)

video of the tank?

Will shoot a video when the time permits. It is just too hot these days. It reaches 42 - 44 C (107.6 - 111.2 F) with 90% humidity. I don't like going out much except at dusk which makes for lousy video/pictures.

I can't believe it either.. :)

Thanks swimmer. I am really enjoying the build. Issues that needs to be dealt with and I need to deal with them before adding anything serious. I will try to post more pictures.

I know of local species that eat algae which include rabbit fish (Siganus canaliculatus), sohal surgeonfish (Acanthurus sohal) and yellow-tail tang surgeonfish (Zebrasoma xanthurum). Planning to start with the rabbit fish since it should be the easiest to catch :).

That's not a very appropriate question.

No worries.. :)
