A corner in Taiwan

Amazing been wanting to buy one of these but there way to expensive. Can your friend show us a DYI for the rest of us to try? I would love to make one.

That's awesome. What's the paddle attached to and how long does the SNOW last at that rate?

Sorry for late reply"¦. the owner's response in Taiwan reefer forum (PH8.4), let me try to translate to English"¦.

The paddle is attached to a modified motorcycle grade motor (I think he is crazy, hahaha), so it is powerful enough to move even a 250 cc bottle. In current design, to meet his need, he put SNOW (5cc), CV (30 drops), and distilled water (44cc) mixed in one bottle, and target dosing every 4 hours for 5 days need.

I live in taipei too and just found your post. The colors are amazing and I bet it's much better in person.

I have a 200 gallon tank with about 5cm of sand. I don't get algae on my sand because I have sea cucumbers taking care of that.

The salt I'm using is Kent and it's giving me good results compare to other salts I have used in the past.

Let's meet up sometimes!

Amazeballs

Thanks. My priority is however to keep the coral healthy, sometimes the color come and go...
Wowzaaaa!!!
Thanks. As above.... I found my tank lack of Iron recently, but it bring better color to some of my coral. I will try to understand more what happen.

May I know what website you order your sps frags from in Taiwan?
The site I order is as below...

Sky0409 is also recommended by many other reefers in Taiwan. However, we do have many other online stores and LFS sell excellent corals.

I bought one tiger tail sea cucumber two years back and now become four or maybe five(!?), however, they always accumulate sand in holes I made under rock, this bother me somehow. I may try to find other cucumber and maybe orange spot goby. Thanks for the advice.
Do you check PH8.4 forum in Taiwan? You can find me there with the same ID ;-)

probably off topic but what do you keep your parameters at? your tank is beautiful by the way

Thanks. I keep my parameters as much as Zeovit suggested...

Salinity ~ 1.026
KH: 6.8 ~ 7.2 dKH (I keep this very stable)
CA: 400~450 ppm
MG:1400~1450 ppm
K+ ~ 400 ppm
NO3 undetectable
PO4: 0.01~0.03
Temp: 75~77F

How do you test for iron? All my levels are good except PH which is around 7.6. What could be a solution? I have had my sps die over a period of months.

You are a meticulous reefer. Would you mind sharing what you are dosing through those 12 pumps?

For example:
Solution: 30 drops of Zeobak mixed in 1 liter of distilled water
Dispense rate: 20ml per day.
Refrigeration required: Yes

Is there anything that you dose manually?

Actually, I have posted on previous page but in a table format. Ok, here is what I have with your format request…I did manual dosing many...

Refrigeration required: No

GHL2: Sponge Power
Solution: 1 unit SP + 19 units distilled water
Dispense rate: 3 ml per day (equal to 2.1 drop per day of pure solution)
Refrigeration required: No

GHL3: Amino Acid
Solution: 1 unit AA + 19 units distilled water
Dispense rate: 3 ml per day (equal to 2.1 drop per day of pure solution)
Refrigeration required: No

GHL4: Xtra

Refrigeration required: No

GHL10: MgCl2
Solution: 250g MgCl2 + 500ml RO/DI water
Dispense rate: 22 ml per day
Refrigeration required: No

GHL11: Sodium hydrogen carbonate
Solution: 78g + 1000ml RO/DI water
Dispense rate: 25 ml per hour
Refrigeration required: No

GHL12: CaCl2
Solution: 250g MgCl2 + 500ml RO/DI water
Dispense rate: 50 ml per day
Refrigeration required: No

====Auto Dosing====
CV: 12 drops per day after light turn off, require fridge and shaking before use
Bak: 5 drops twice a week, require fridge
Coral Snow: 2ml twice a week, require shaking
PIF: 5 drops per day
JKC(Iodio):5 drops twice a week
SPG: 10 drops ever time when bird nest color dark again
Iron concentrator: 2 ml per week

Hope this help....

The way you are dosing makes sense and I'm impressed at the number of supplements that do not require refrigeration. I don't have as many supplements or dosers as you do but I will try this out on a smaller scale and see how it goes. Thanks again for the idea!

My wife just signed the contract for a new house. This also mean we will move to a new place April or May 2014. For that, I am considering stop adding new coral and live stock on this tank, be more focus on design and plan my new tank (well, if I can convince my wife:headwally:).
Many questions later may ask around RC forum to get reefers's opinion, but before that, allow me put a snapshot of this tank in time machine...:spin3:
