High DOM & POM bother me a while and I believe it is main reason of my algae and cyano problem (PO4 < 0.03; NO3 = 0). So, I decide to reduce bio-loading in tank and very first step, send my blue tang back to LFS. She grow too big in last two years, eat a lot and poo a lot. I may get a much smaller blue tang to start with again, but that have to wait till I return from coming business trip.

What's that?

It is a shaker I plan to use to shake Hanna tube. Hanna test require fully shamed for 2 minutes but its will also turn to sleep after 3 minutes, so I try to find a tool to help manual shaking. I will see one in my friends house this Saturday, by then, I should know something.

I also just received my Zeovit Cyano Cleaner (CC) today, I will test how good it is.

Hi Shih87,
First of all, love your tank. Its absolutly awesome.
This is how i deal with hanna checker. They have 2 Tubes. So i fill both of them with water from the tank. Then i put the reagent in one of them, and shake with no hurrys. I've also read that some guys leave the water with the reagent rest for 1 or 2 hours. I just swirl it gently until the reagent its dissolved.
After that a use the other tube to put in the checker and calibrate ir to zero.
Then i get the other tube (already with the reagent), put it into the checker and press for the 3 minutes.
Hope it help you!
Sorry my bad english :)

I used to do the same, but after contacting hanna customer service they told me not to do it this way, readings might be off because of different glass clarity used on different vials. BTW beautiful tank.

I use the Hanna checker.
Shaking vigorously for approximately 2 mins will surely dissolve the powder.
If in doubt can use a timer.
Using the one bottle to calibrate and mixing powder in the spare vial would not be accurate. If in doubt one can do 2 tests to double check. Slight and minimal variations are common.
But IMHO I feel getting a repeated digital reading is much more better in case of Po4 checking than reading from a colour chart and guesstimating.

Have you ever tried to catch a blue tang in a grown in tank? Without destroying half of Tour corals? Sometimes hooking them is the best and only choice.

Shaker? That might come in handy. PS I went by, Elton, your buddy's house today.

I saw one yesterday and we did try it a bit. It seems a good tool can replace hand shaking…However, I am still waiting for some reefer in Taiwan DIY something even better…

Yes, Elton told me you are as paranoid as I am… Hahaha. and he said you and me should definitely meet… Hahaha

I am looking forward to meeting you….

Indeed, I did the same (Andremigsilva way with two tubes) to avoid battery idle in the past, but due to the tube quality (even it is good enough), I choose use one tube for water and after mixed. In fact, I even mark on tube, to ensure the way I put my tube in is always same direction so the light check the exact same spot….

I heard in theory...a lab grade PO4 test won’t use small tube with curve shape like Hanna tube, so pick a single spot with exactly same thickness and light reflection maybe critical for Hanna test. I think,… but not sure…..

Did you use the hook to catch the blue tang? Seems a little extreme to me.

I think Laguna explain it for me below...

Looks like someone also gave it a try before … Hahaha

What kind of reel did you use and how long was the fight?
I laughed my a.. off when I saw that.

It actually easier than I thought…. I use 0.128mm fishline with something can help me hold the fishline… There is no fight ;-)… He was just too greedy. Before I put the hook in, I worry other fishes may give a bite first, but he was just too fast and/or trust me too much (that made me feel awful) , and the whole fight end in almost 15 seconds.

I can respect your method after thinking about it. It just caught me by surprise.

To let both of us feel better. She is pretty happen in LFS, and I visit her almost twice a week.

thats is too funny!!!

Which part!!! Hahaha

Well, I have given Zeovit CC a trial but so far does not see any noticeable improvement yet. I dose CC with Snow and keep Skimmer on.

Looks like Dino's? I hope its not!

I think it is Cyano, but not sure, either

Anyway, I have KZ CC treatment for 10 days, but my cyano condition has not yet improved. Since KZ solution usually take time, I will keep CC dosing for another 20 days at least. Hope it work eventually.

I got a few frags from reefers in last two months, and also some reefers asked frags from me. These gifts and ready-to-give-away frags force me adding my frag frames up to four, two are show below..
