A corner in Taiwan

Did you inspect the bases/frag plugs for eggs etc? I would be $heet scared to put those in my tank! Did you place them in the tank or in quarantine?

This is going to be an awesome coral:

I was wondering the same thing - LOL.

Where can I read up on this?
See post below which is on previous page. Its just a nice looking and smartly designed carbon reactor.

My new toys finally arrived"¦.

Carbon reactor (custom made in Taiwan)"¦
Small enough but high quality (using magnetic to connect glass tube and base set) easy to place anywhere in sum. I hope it can increase my carbon efficiency and extend expired date ;-)

Battery and accessory to avoid power outage"¦. The idea is simple. When power outage happen (unfortunately, power outage over 24 hours may happen in Taiwan), one of my Tunze pump will switch from DC power to battery for over 48 hours before battery dead. Since I place my Tunze pump half inch lower than water level (water level when power off), one pump should create enough wave and air in main tank, especial when I am traveling.

Although I like Taiwan SPS low price and easy frags sharing environment, but due to hot summer and unpredictable power outage, plus my frequent business trips, I better plan well to overcome these challenges ;-(

Let me know if any safe tips or advices you have...

Thanks. After a few more post, I will address some problem I am facing now ;-(

your setup is AMAZING! and that dosing setup is pretty elaborate. i'm sure all the color coding youve done with the tubing helps keeping up with it pretty painless.

Sorry for late reply. Yes, it is just a reactor that most Taiwan reefers use for carbon (put at bottom) + Seachem Purigen (put in a filter sock and place on top of carbon) react. It saves sump space and only need to use quarter to half of materials than without a reactor.

Below is my reactor in operation mode.

That's one great looking reactor! Never came across one like that. Does anyone have a link to manufacturer or a shop where I could get one (or 20 for other german reefers)?

I'm just loving this thread! All those dosing units make me go :hmm5: but your corals show me you are doing it right. I'm always checking for updates! Keep up your great work!

good catch, did you check for eggs? better get a qt set up just in case. is bayer advanced available in taiwan?

.....

Roger that. I already posted on the AEFW link. I did exam eggs and found one spot of eggs and then brush them out. Unfortunately, I don't have a qt tank, so throw my frag to main tank directly ;-(
I am not sure if I can find bayer in Taiwan, but CoralX serve me well;-)

Thanks. The reactor was made by a local fish store in Taiwan. I can find his contact info to you. He can speak English as well.

GHL doser did save me lot of work especial when out of town, in fact, I just bought another set, cause I think I need total 16 heads for my new tank in 2014.

BTW, I miss the old days in US that I can grow my own brine shrimp and green water in garage, so I asked my friends made a tool set just like what I bought in US.... It cost me only US$40 ;-).. I can't wait to raise my own brine shrimp and maybe even clown fish next year.

hi shih 87. your tank is really amazing. Nice corals you have there. many gems in your tank.
do you know any taiwan LFS willing to ship coral to Singapore or any online purchase?

Shih; those are much better shots. I shoot in manual. I turn off all pumps, set shutter speed to about 80 or 100, and try to use f16 to obtain max depth of field. Use higher ISO if required. You have a newer camera than me so the noise level should be much less at high ISO.

Thanks so much for the reactor explanation. It's quite a brilliant idea. Using magnets to hold in place. Space saving and sleek.
Your photography skills are great!!!
Those close up pics of acros are really beautiful!
The flat worm is scary!!!

Thanks. Actually, even coral ship to Taiwan is challenge, so I am not sure how LFS has service ship to Singapore. I will check again if find any useful information, I will update you.
