Very nice shots. I've been looking at the NIkon 105 macro, I just can't justify the cost. I like the shots with the Tamron very much and will have to take a look at it. My wife just loves my spending.
Thought I'd post this image for your review. Sorry for posting a huge pic; I wanted to show the coral’s pigment gradient between its corallites.
Wow Art....simply amazing image you have there. I absolutely love how the main two "stalks" (I know that's not the right word ) are in focus and the DOF drops off from there. The detail is simply stunning with the detail of the corallites and I love how you were able to show how the color slowly migrates from a tannish to a blue. I can see how people slowly migrate to keeping SPS....although I'm still hung up on LPS and zoas
What is the background in the right portion of the image? Is that another coral out of focus or the background of the tank? I think that it really compliments the foreground very nicely and adds to the overall feel. Great job....you have quite the mastery of macro for sure. Something to aspire to.
Lovely coral for sure.
To my eye.., this particular image could benefit from a little more DOF since the branches are that close to the focus point in the image. Either that or those other branches could be more out of focus...
sorry i am new to photography world and might sound stupid. i just brought a canon powershot s3 and was wondering if i can get my camera to take pics like those.
Guys, thank you for your comments and kind words. This lens blows me away. Can't wait to catch a break in a few days and spend some more time experimenting with this little marvel.
divecj5, thank you for a very constructive review. The world of SPS is undoubtfully beautiful albeit challenging at times. The background to the lower right of the coral is pink acropora (can't remember its name).
zenya, thank you. I tried to get the entire colony in focus and still show the pigment gradient and couldn't do it. I still got a lot to learn. I'll try Aperture Priority mode and see what it'll yield.
Nuuze, thanks. The last pic was taken at ISO 400 in manual mode.
